I just talked to Brad Hardekopf on another matter. He strongly suggested that I be in attendance for the UAB Athletics Committee Meeting tomorrow at Alumni Hall - 4:00 I think. He stressed multiple, multiple times that I would extremely pleased with what I will see and hear at that meeting. In fact at one point he said, "you will be doing cartwheels as you leave". When I expressed my exasperation with the non-movement on Coach Clark's contract, he reply was "you will love what you hear tomorrow".

(On another subject he assured me that my pledged money will go into a fund which will only be used to reinstate football, bowling and rifle and none of that fund will be used to cover the ten million thrown away when Watts tried to cut the programs.)

Brad is UAB through and through; he is a straight shooter and I have never known to exaggerate in the slightest. He asked me to put out his personal invitation to everyone on the board to come out tomorrow - he again said we will absolutely love what we see and hear.

Hope to see you guys there.
I hope he's correct, but I'm skeptical until I see it happen. I do like and respect Brad and the countless others who continue to work behind the scenes, on both sides. #thankstothosewiththethanklessjobs
I hate the early start time. I'll get there around 6...

+1. I'd like to go, but there is no way I can leave work that early.
How does this match up with the commentary that the contract talks have gone silent?
Cajun doing cartwheels is a reason to go in itself.

I predict you'll hear a ton about facilities, doing things the right way, Birmingham's team, etc. I would be extremely shocked to hear anything about a contract. The Tide is too low right now. And yes, that's a cryptic reference.

If my memory serves me correctly, CajunBlazer was a UAB cheerleader back in the early 80's. He might even do a few flips.

He went to ulala for undergrad. He did teach martial arts so a cartwheel is a possibility but at his advanced age broken bones would likely result
Scheduling the thing at 4PM pretty much ensured that this won't be a blowout attendance wise

Yep. Which someone called and the UAB people said the doors open at 4 but speakers and such won't start until 5. Still too early for me considering I don't get off work until 5 way on down 280.

I'm sure that wasn't the intention.

From what I saw, it's 4-6.
Scheduling early means coverage in the evening news cycle, possibly some live coverage.
I'll be leaving the office at 3:30 and arriving right on time.
