I posted the same thing in the other basketball thread, but it lead to a derailment by BNB about the future of urban campuses and how Atlanta and Birmingham were on equal footing prior to the 70's.

Hopefully he doesn't find this thread.

Well, when Wallace was standing in the doorway
With a diverse and progressive Board or Regents not stuck in 1955 and a real president, get ready to eat their dust...

What about Georgia's spending per pupil?
Georgia Dome's stadium certificates?

I hope all of us will be so amused after the second special session is over. It remains probable that the state legislature will see the SETF as the only money they can get their hands on immediately and will jump into it with both feet. They can simply move SETF funds over; they can redirect SETF revenue streams (Use Tax and others) to the General fund; or like Cameron Smith found, move General Fund agencies into the SETF and feed them off SETF monies.

UAB may find itself, with the rest of the state's public schools, figuring out how to make 2007 level funding fit 2016 costs.
Whatever is done the blame should go mainly towards the Governor.

He has not worked with anyone & instead has predetermined that his way was the only way.

You must be the most aloof person I've ever come in contact with.

Can you stay on topic just every now and then?

I know how to save $853,000 per year!

Yes!!!
Hopefully our next president will be glad to lead for less, and have no desire to one-up Ray in terms of salary. But being dyslexic toward his salary would probably be nice, say, $358,000 annually? Or maybe even $85,300 if we get someone who's a real philanthropist toward making UAB better and not in it for the money! Even so, I'm not sure if I would take a university president job for a mere $85,300...

...but let's get this thread back on topic, OK? The battle of the victorious #14 seeds should be nice!

I think our next president should be compensated solely by donor support.

That seems to be politics in general these days. The two party system has turned into two parties swearing the other is wrong and doing whatever they can to stop the other from accomplishing anything.
Glad to see UAB and Georgia State mixing it up in MBB. That has some serious potential to evolve into a major rivalry if things break the right way.

We need to make this a constant talking point.

That's a ridiculous idea. Does any other school do that? Yes Watts is overpaid, but the President should be paid by the school. It has nothing to do with athletics.
