"If we're told we have to play in 2016 [to remain in the FBS], that's when we'll play." -Mark Ingram
That's really all I needed to hear. The NCAA is going to make the ultimate call, and they'll have to do it sooner rather than later.

Sounds like he's being a realist. The conference and the NCAA are going to need to give feedback ASAP

I thought it was positive. Clark will make the call when we play and Ingram will support it IMHO.

When we start will likely have to be a part of our plan presented to CUSA in August. It's not that far away.

Also said that University is willing to incur debt if majority of funding is secured before hand.

Sounded like he wasn't crazy about starting back in '16 because of the logistical issues, but that staying FBS was a priority. Interesting to see what the NCAA says.

So once again we add to the list of decisions about UAB that will be made by outside powers. We continue to enumerate things UAB lost control of due to the decision to drop football. Perhaps one day UAB will be able to make ALL important decisions about UAB athletics by itself.

If you look at it from his perspective it is pretty daunting. How hard is scheduling going to be, much less putting together a roster and filling the coaching positions. We all want them to be playing this year, but what has happened has happened and I respect that he wants to do it the right way and sustainably.

I don't think scheduling will be hard at all. Their phone is ringing off the hook from what I am told. Remember we only have to schedule 4 games a year. I think the biggest issue is what will the NCAA allow in order for us to field a team in 16 or 17.

Has anything been started regarding facility upgrades? It is great to raise funding, but at some point funding has to be turned into facilities for it to make a difference to the team. The list has been long delayed and our W-L record shows it. A record of 6-6 is much better than 2-10, but it is not a top goal for our program. Check out Clark's list and get something built ASAP so when UAB FB comes back, it will be much improved.

Based on Watts' tone in regards to FB & no bonds done, until $$$ is in the bank to cover, no ground will be broken for facility it's to be used for. Pony up your pledges

Mississippi State would probably rather us come to them than travel to UMass in 2016, for example.
