The University Of Toledo is taking bids for an Engineering/Design firm to design plans for the renovation of The Glass Bowl east stands, restrooms, and a athletic dining facility to be attached to the stadium.
It was posted on the BX/Ohio this morning.
The BX/Ohio is a state wide construction bidding information system.

Good news. I guess there's more $$$ around than we new. O'Brien said the Larimer renovation was "the last piece of the puzzle".

Wonder how that dining facility works? Athletes don't have a place to eat? For visiting teams? What is it? Hope it doesn't detract from the outside view of the stadium, though I guess that wouldn't be a huge concern?
They got rid of a bunch of bad admins and are using the money that Larry Burns spent on Bow ties (Thanks Akron! )

I actually think this has been in the works for a bit. How much do you want to bet that SSOE and the sports design firm from KC land this deal at a large discount compliments of SSOE?

I think in one regard he was correct. My sense is that the idea of moving Scott Park facilities is no longer on the table and that some renovation will happen there. I believe MOB was quoted in that regards. Maybe he meant that we have the facilities we need, so now is just keeping them renovated and modern. Timing of this bid leads me to believe that something like this could probably get started after this football season.
Great. Boy I have lots of ideas for this. An expansion of the visiting locker room should be considered as well to make home games easier to sell. Didn't Missouri need to set up a tent

I have not seen it. Most of the UT bids in the last 6 months have been for buildings at UTMC, also known as The University Of Toledo Hospital. (take that The Blah)

What kind of time frame would you give this? I'm guessing we're talking at least a year or 2 before any ground would be broken?
Seems like when they decide to do something, they get it turned around pretty quickly.
Pretty quick for something like this would be 2018. Fundraising design time etc. I hope they have some sort of public process to solicit fan input

This is the first test of the new administration with the Blade. Past history with the daily local is that they like to know before the rest of us so they can break the story. Usually a big story before the press conference.

MOB & the rest of the University hit the Savage Arena renovation out of the park, first-class. I would imagine the same will be done to a potential Glass Bowl renovation.
