The title gave more information than the entire article. Still better than Birdsong...
How many ways can it be said -"UAB has no control over its conference membership and can only pray that it gets a break from the C-USA administrators. UAB can beg to be allowed to stay one year while its BOT and their cabal decide on football at UAB". Do we remember when under Bartow UAB actually made decisions about conference membership? THAT INDEPENDENCE IS A THING OF OUR PAST.
Sounds like he has his marching orders. Not one from him about football. Finding it hard to be excited about our new AD.

Not many ways apparently. You are on your third or fourth cycle of saying it. I'm thinking only one or two ways based on your posts.

I think we need to give him a little more time. Let's see the results of the study and fundraising. If those come back positive and he still has nothing to say about it, then it's time for all hell to break loose.
Exactly. If we get this report in and we can cover football with the pledges and it is denied then it is torches and pitchforks at the admin office. Counting the report the chancellor did we have two saying football is viable. This third will show it is viable with a doughnut hole to be filled. I feel like we will make whatever number needed.
So he's working on a plan alright...just doesn't sound like a "backup" plan.

Also, his official start date isn't until May 18th. The BOT Compensation Committee hasn't even met to approve his hiring.

I think this, in combination with Ron Gray's timely "interview" speaks volumes about what is going on here.
Cmon. Every coach or AD starts working before their official start date. And any good leader has contingency plans. This is a sign of a Good leader, not some nefarious plot.

Yeah, you have to be real in that regard. I'd be more concerned if he was just taking it easy and not bothering with anything until he officially started. He needs to hit the ground running. If he trips up from the very beginning, he's in danger of being ran over by passionate fans, caught under a bus from the administration, or possibly both.

I'd be more excited about the new AD is his time was being spent calling up major donors/potential donors helping us reach the numbers we need. Then if he's also working on a backup plan, so be it.
