Sounds a little different than some of things we heard around here.....

Not too hard to piece together why Joe didn't get to be a finalist.

He's a Basketball guy, but he is involved with the Football community. He is on the Birmingham Bowl committee.

It does sound different. That said he still said things contrary to that in the past. He either has changed his position or is telling us what we want to hear. Either way I am happy as a lark he is not our AD. We have three very good candidates. Again I will say the comittiee has done a fine job.

How happy is a lark anyway?

Either way his statements age good for our cause. I'm glad he made them.

Maybe he meant intermural flag football for sororities (which UAB DOES need), but it's not the same as what we're thinking.

It sounds like he is pandering. He's probably heard that it was said he said that UAB shouldn't have football. We only have his word of what he said in the interview. And he said that every campus should have football. UAB has a campus, therefore UAB should have football.

I bet watts would even say UAB should have football, but he would add that UAB can't afford to have football.

My guess is that any AD with a brain in his head knows that it is football that brings in the money, and money is the lifeblood of the athletic department.

I feel certain that these three finalists know that. So, we'll see how the next stage develops.
