Let's take a deep breath. I've watched many loyal Blazers bite into each other the last day or two over the MVC talk. Some of us want to jump into the best basketball league possible since football was cut, while others of us want to fight to stay in CUSA to make the return of football much easier. However you fall on these issues, be respectful of the ones that view it the other way. Both sides make sense, and there is no road map to show us the way. We are in a fight and we can't know right now exactly how the fight will play out or where we will be left when it's over.

Let's stop eating our own.

I bet almost all of us can agree that having a football program is in the university's best interests, and having a strong basketball program is too. There's no reason we can't push for both even if we aren't all agreed on what conference option we should go for.

Be respectful of your fellow Blazer. We can't afford to be divided.
I agree. We are on the same team. We ultimately want the same things: successful athletics and a healthy campus (undergraduate, graduate, professional schools, etc).

I think most people want to stay in CUSA. I think the MVC discussion is the "what if" comes to pass and UAB is forced out of CUSA. Semantics seem to be creating a lot of the disagreements I've been seeing.

For the most part, the discourse has been civil.
This should have been a banner year for UAB athletics. Both the money sports doing better than they had in years.

Just thinking about how f***ed up this year has been, given how awesome it SHOULD have been just pisses me off all over again.

EDIT: FYI. The past tense of the F-bomb gets past the filter.

It has been, but I've seen some nastiness on Twitter (name calling, personal insults, etc.), and while it has been more tame here, the tension is rising.
This is all you need to ask yourself: What would Gene do? Would Gene move to the MVC? No, because Gene could have done that long ago. Gene would fight to stay in C-USA. Gene told me long ago that this would happen. We must fight for what is ours and not what they tell us we can have!
Forget the conference talk. The immediate priority is Watts gone.

Once that happens any number of things become possible.

Affirmative.

First order of Business - new president
There can probably be no decision about football ( and conference affiliation ) unless it's made by a standing president, and as long as Watts is in charge ( without the task force's report completed ) or until another one is named, we will remain in limbo.

The 2015-2016 calendar year could have been one in which we had a legitimate chance to win the conference championship in football and basketball. Has that ever been done in CUSA?

Glad to see this post. The last 4 or 5 days on Twitter I've seen Blazers ripping into each other on the issues of MVC, fighting for football, and even who has supported UAB the longest. It's ludicrous...

Solidarity brothers.

BINGO!

I would humbly suggest holding off on a "BINGO!" until we see who the BOT selects to be his replacement. Watts has been such an easy and obliging target that we might miss him after he has gone.(NO! I don't mean we would want him back)
Board of Trustee reform is IMPERATIVE. Changing presidencies is IMPERATIVE.
GOVERNMENT OF THE BLAZERS FOR THE BLAZERS AND BY THE BLAZERS AND THE SAME APPLIES TO
UAH. It's high time to do the RIGHT THING AND TAKE OUT THE TRASH!
Just like the Book of Daniel....WE WILL NOT EAT THE "KING'S MEAT"!
Like the M*A*S*H episode where they got fed up with liver and fish to the point "I've eaten rivers of liver and oceans of fish"....WE WANT SOMETHING ELSE....WE WANT SOMETHING ELSE!
