With the Toledo Women not making the NCAA tournament, they keep having to host inferior teams at home over the years in the WNIT........

Schools like Alabama, Auburn, Syracuse, Marquette, Southern California, Northwestern, Delaware, and now Little Ole Michigan......... [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]
Don't get me wrong. It's been awesome to host those type of schools and it's helped build the fan base.

But...

An NCAA tournament appearance with an upset win over a Tennessee, Baylor or dare I say UCONN would the single best achievement in women's basketball history at UT.
BRING EM ON! BEAT MICHIGAN!!
It helps boost the local fanbase.
And admittedly its fun.

But in women's basketball being a Big Ten team or from the SEC doesn't mean much. Many of those programs are never good.
Toledo beat UCOnn once. Big east refs took it away with the no call on Jane Roman

Agreed. I'm excited for Monday's game. Yes, it would be more exciting or meaningful to beat a UCONN or Tennessee, but I'm pretty sure that's how most women's college teams feel, and I would be ecstatic with a win like that. While that would be nice to see in my lifetime, I will take the time to enjoy these match-ups and not worry about the "yeah buts".
Toledo's RPI is 125

Michigan 62

for comparison other teams on Toledo's schedule by RPI

Dayton 13
OU 50
Wright St 89
EMU 90
Akron 95

So scUM has the 3rd best RPI, UT will have played this year. This would be a quality win!!!

From what I could gather, their WNIT game against Cleveland St was close at the start. Then they started hammering the ball down low with their 6'3 senior forward. Cleveland State had no answer, resulting in other defenders having to help, which left Michigan's guards open. From that point one, it became blowout city. I would expect them to use the same strategy against Toledo.
Hey we played Dayton well until the last 5 mins or so. So if we play well we can beat M.

I remember listening to that game on the radio. However, the way I remember the game finishing was UT down 1 point with action under the basket as Kim Sekulski got an offensive rebound right at the basket and got clobbered (according to the announcer) trying to put it back up just before the buzzer with NO CALL------I also think that may have been UCONN's first year on their way to becoming a WBB super dynasty under Auriemma.

Of course I could be wrong because my mind has faded with age, but that is the way I remember it.

PS---Fennelly and the Rockets had just beaten a nationally ranked Rutgers team thus breaking their incredibly long home winning streak to even get to play UNCONN.

This WNIT stuff is all well and good but that season has to still be the high water mark for WBB at UT.

UM has most of its wins at home and most of its losses on the road---and it is really skewed badly so just maybe playing at Savage will make the difference.
Its a big10 team in the WNIT... I dont think they're very good. Maybe better than us, but Toledo has hardly any shooters and can get beat by anyone if baskets dont fall. But when our shooters can hit... We play better D than a lot of teams in this tourney and will make ya pay. Wright State is a better team than Toledo on most nights, but we were hittin. A big crowd and an early run will spell trouble for Michigan. I went to the game in 2010??? Up there and Toledo outdrew them by double. They had some 6'5 chick drilling threes though and Tanika Mayes couldnt hit water if she fell out of a boat.
