Iowa St was ranked #9 in the country.
Memphis = 3/2/2006. Memphis was ranked 3rd.
I was wondering if UAB has ever beaten an opponent in the NCAA when there is such a margin in seeding. Iowa State was seeded 11 seeds ahead of us. The win over Iowa State is big for lots of reasons, but I don't think most would put it in the same league as our win over UK in 2004. But from a seeding standpoint, this might be the biggest "upset" that UAB has pulled.
Of all the upsets today, ours had the biggest point spread coming into the game.
I was wondering where we thought this game stood on the list of our all time best wins. I know its not number 1, but surely it has to be near the top.
When I ranked wins for the Today in Blazer History mega series I did for the 30th anniversary (my own 30 for 30 series) a couple of years ago, I put special emphasis on NCAA wins, giving them bigger weight. UAB vs. Alabama, our Great Alaska Shootout victories and other big top 10 wins got ranked high as well. Since this is our 10th win in the NCAA, I would say this win is probably Top 15. It may move up, depending on how deep they go in the tournament. In my opinion.
This was most of my Top 30 games I did back in 2009 for the Blazer Top 30 series. I didn't finish the series, but the Top 4 (I think) were the Virginia 1982 NCAA win, the Kentucky win in 81, the Kentucky win in 2004, and the Indiana win in 82.

Games I would consider making this list that have been played since then would be our North Carolina win last year, our MTSU win last week, yesterday, and maybe the Butler and VCU wins when those teams went to the Final Four.

I tend to agree with that. Thanks for the list as well.
For some of the younger fans like me, this past two weeks has been the high point of UAB basketball. I started following UAB basketball around 2006 and was there for that Memphis win. This is the most excited I've been about UAB basketball since then. I'm looking forward to what this team can do over the next several year.
