Tiebreakers

WKU, UTEP ODU - record among tied teams. WKU 2-0, UTEP 1-1, ODU 0-2

Mid Tn, North Texas - north Texas gets tiebreaker in head to head

UTSA, Rice, Marshall - record against tied teams - all are 1-1. Second tiebreaker is record against top teams. Rice wins this tiebreaker because they beat #2 UAB. Then, UTSA since they won head to head vs Marshall

FIU, Charlotte - FIU won head to head against Charlotte

* I may be wrong on tiebreakers

If tourney was tomorrow

(5) ODU vs. (12) Charlotte
(6) North Texas vs (11) FIU
(7)) Middle Tenn vs (10) Marshall
(8) Rice vs. (9) UTSA

Qtr finals
(1) La Tech vs Rice or UTSA
(2) UAB vs Middle Tenn or Marshall
(3) WKU vs. North Texas or FIU
(4) UTEP vs ODU or Charlotte
Did we clinch a first round bye today? We're 12-4 with 2 games left. UTEP, WKU, ODU with 5 losses, but WKU and ODU play each other & we beat both.
I'm not comfortable with either of those quarterfinal match ups. I don't want us to lose so hoping there's some shuffling below us. I like the N. Texas/FIU matchup better.

I'm not entirely comfortable with the way UAB has played the last four games. They have blown big leads in three of the last four games and I don't know what to attribute that to.
Oh god, I don't wanna face MTSU again...
I've always felt like seeding is a bit overrated. i would love to win the conference outright and be guaranteed an NIT trip...other than that, i don't really care if its 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

I'd rather avoid tech until the finals. I'd also prefer not to have to meet WKU or ODU(or UTEP now) in that 4-5 game. The 2-3 are basically the same thing. I really don't want the 4.
One seed is out of the picture. La Tech has one game left. And even if they lose at home, which they don't, they hold the tiebreaker over us.
I am expecting at the end of the season
1. La Tech 15-3
2. UAB 14-4
3. UTEP 13-5
4. ODU 13-5 -
5. WKU 12-6 -

I dont WANT to play odu until the final
I don't wanna see MT again, even if we have Tosin back. You know what they say about having to beat a team three times...

Not true. First, La Tech and UAB split the season series. If La Tech loses at home to USM and UAB wins out, the following would allow UAB to win the regular season title and the NIT bid:

1. ODU finishes in 3rd by themselves. UAB beat ODU and La Tech lost to ODU. UAB would win the tiebreaker in that scenario.

2. WKU finishes in 3rd and ODU alone in 4th, UAB would win the tie-breaker over La Tech. Both teams beat WKU but La Tech lost to ODU and UAB beat ODU.
I'm fine with us facing anyone. I don't think our guys should feel intimidated playing anyone. We've crushed La Tech and ODU. Took care of WKU. Nearly won at UTEP. Weren't pushed around or destroyed in any conference game.

And we will essentially be playing at home for the conference tournament. Hope our guys play with confidence and a chip on their shoulder. This is their tournament to lose in my eyes. And that's how they should see it too.
Correction to OP:

Louisiana Tech is 14-3, not 13-4.
I don't want to see MTSU or ODU: hard to beat MTSU three times, and I don't think we'd shoot 70% against ODU if we played them again.

I do want to see us play against UTEP though. I like our chances in Birmingham.

I forgot we split with them. I still doubt that La Tech loses at home to USM.

I'm 99.9% sure La Tech will not lose that game. It would take some extraordinary events for USM to pull that upset.
Rpiforecast.com is calling it 97%.
We need La Tech to lose. We need 1st. We need the exposure.

Do you think 2nd seed, making it to the final and losing to LA tech would get us NIT?

Only way we get the NIT is the automatic bid. Our record is too poor.
