Pearl is such a *****.
"Their scheduling has been put on hold." We know what happened last time UAB put scheduling on hold. They're coming for basketball next. Better get to the conference tournament... may be last time to watch them. Sarcasm?

Because he wants to play UAB?
The excuse.
Those were exciting games in the 80's for sure. I'd like to see the series revived. The game used to be at the BJCC on the Friday night before the Iron Bowl. It was generally a sell out, and in the irony of ironies, the Alabama crowd in town was there cheering for UAB.

Haas and Pearl should do a two day doubleheader tournament with UAB, AU, USA, and maybe Samford.
UAB can't schedule Auburn because our conference affiliation is up in the air. Must mean we might end up in the SEC. 03-lmfao

Seriously, if we aren't scheduling now, expect a pretty piss poor out of conference schedule next year.

You think he made it up? Do you honestly think that he would have made up something so stupid that is so easily verified by the reporter?
Do you believe that he can't schedule us because of our future conference affiliation?

Agreed. Pearl is just yanking some chains.

It's what you do when you are coaching a team near the bottom of the league.

You divert attention away from it.

I don't know why you agree. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we are holding off on scheduling. We don't want to schedule potential conference mates.

I think he is totally serious about scheduling us. What better way to pull Anthony Grant's (and UA's) chain than by playing us. That is why Pat Dye was such a big UAB supporter.
He scurred.
Bruce Pearl is totally serious. He's not scared of UAB. Those are the kinds of games he seeks out. While at Tennessee, he signed a ten year deal with Memphis, and played Chattanooga home and home.

Auburn is ready to go, from what I understand. It's UAB that isn't. The reason isn't that they think they're going to the ACC. It's that they think they might go to a league that has an eighteen game conference schedule format, which limits the number of OOC games they can schedule. That's the only problem.
OOC games are scheduled through almost the beginning of summer.
There are slots available right now.

The real issue is that Pearl wants home games without any return games.

Okay, if that's the case then since Pearl is making these statements in the media then UAB needs to respond in the media.

"Conference affiliation is not an issue. We just want the series to be on equal terms."

Bruce Pearl has no reason to publicly state that he wants to play UAB unless he actually wants to do it. He doesn't duck regional opponents. He never has. There are things I don't like about him, but he doesn't look down his nose at the'smaller' programs in the state. He never has.

And you would be???
A couple of things:

UAB is the only team in Alabama getting any positive publicity. I'm sure Pearl wants to tie into that, if only superficially.

I'm sure UAB's conference affiliation has a bearing on scheduling. Its much more likely that Auburn plays UAB a home-and-home if they are CUSA versus being in the A-Sun. That being said I think UAB will be CUSA at least 1 more season

Auburn playing UAB would be something Tuscaloosa would not like, no matter how little they care about basketball.
Pearl has no intentions of any home & home or any game period.
He just wants people to notice him right now when his team is blowing chunks.

Pearl made his bed. He will reside either last or next to last in the SEC West for 4 years then he will either resign or be fired.

You wish. When Pearl gets the players he wants Auburn will become a very, very good program. That said, no matter how good the Tigers become, UAB should still demand a home and home period.
