damn !!!!!!
That's a true AWESOME jam!!!!!!!!!

I will be at WMU saturday!

Go Rockets!
UT's men's team is doing great. We have three very close losses in conference. We could easily be 12 -1. I like how they are playing. Great team to watch for the fans.

I've been a season ticket holder since I was 10 (via my dad) and I have ebeen going continuosly since '66-'67 season and this is the team I have enjoyed watching most since our '76 - '81 run.

Go Rockets!!!
Wow...that was sick! Spoon's explosiveness is really impressive...wish I had that kind of bounce. I'd be lucky to do that on a 9ft rim.

Unfortunately I think the socio/political unrest of the '60's led to the unraveling of the team after the '66-67 season. I also saw the program start downward after the '76-81 run when Mac went to Kent State.
That was impressive! Couldn't catch the expression of the cheerleader, though. Went by too fast.
Boca.... great input... Jim MacDonald's value to the program under Bob Nichols was only known by the most dedicated fans. Like you said- his departure started the downward trend in the mid 80's. It took about 3 years for his departure to be really noticed but it was sizeable.
Complete disrespect for gravity.

I thought the year Stan's team went 14-2 (sweep MAC West) and won the MAC Regular season championship was a fun team to watch.

Keonta Howell broke his foot in the QF against emu that year and we lost to the 4 seed miami in the conf semis. Frustrating.
I attended TU during the Eddie Melvin era. Melvin's teams always did well in non-conference games but folded in conference. At that time BG (Komives and Thurmond), Miami and Ohio were the teams to beat. In 61 -62 Jones and Wolford were the good players. For someone about 6'2", Jones could really get up there. After we beat NYU in the old Garden we kind of fizzled and never played up to pre-season expectations. This was probably one of the reasons Bobby Nichols return to coach. One of the best players in the garden win, Bobby Williams, never came back for his sophomore year. I thought in spite of our poor conference play, attendance was great! I remember standing in line all night for a game against a very good, ranked Dayton team. And another time for a game against Drake......we lost both games!

Hate the Drake
I took a class from Melvin. Didn't even know he was a coach til later. He was not a pleasant man in that class.

I agree, Stan's Regular Season Championship season was very fun. I still remember the home game against Akron at the "old" Savage. It was a battle between the two tops teams in the MAC that season. There was a great, energetic crowd with 7,900 people. Toledo won by three points and Akron attempted a game-tying three pointer at the last second, but Kashif Payne blocked it. Tino Valencia jumped up in celebration on the table where the courtside seats were. That was a huge game as it ultimately determined who the won the regular season championship.

Akron brought a huge student group that was very well organized. Kept chanting "Ooooo Oooooo Romeo" every time their guy Romeo Something scored. My daughter was really giving it to them back and forth all night. They were a lot of fun but for one foul mouthed older guy who we got kicked out. I always wished UT had an equivalent group. Apparently Akron doesn't anymore, either.

It was on Sports Center this morning when I saw it. Didn't look for a link before having to head off to work. I looked at this link provided and it does not show the camera angle frombehind him where you could see the cheerleader's reaction to the dunk. I'll post that if I can find it somewhere. That is a classic reaction...
