Looks like a strong committee. This will be a very important hire to get correct.

Joe Van Matre is a business school professor. I had him for business stats, always saw him at soccer and basketball games. From what I remember he was a donor for the soccer program. Good guy.

Yeah Van Matre is definitely pro UAB athletics. I've seen him at bball and football games. I had him for stats as well I remember him using our basketball players as part of his statistics questions on exams.

This is freaking awesome. Guys, the movement is changing things. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Is it normal to have such a huge list of people on a search committee? How can that many people agree on anything?

Unfortunately that may lead to a compromise choice. I have no problems with one man search committees as long as that person is committed to bringing in the right person.

They should name Bill Clark just to stick it to the Man!

They will use a consultant, then pick from the short list. Harold Jones sounds very much like he has his head on straight.

Looks like their goal was to name everyone who had been to every basketball game this year. 19 people is a lot.

Obviously an attempt by Watts to be "inclusive" and exercise "shared governess". Message: Now that I have done the job the BOT give me to do and rid UAB of football, from now on I will be a good boy so I can keep my job.

That said, having a committee that size is neither efficient nor effective.

Perhaps so, but you can't debate the quality of the members on it. Lots of good people on that list.

Not doubt this is part of the "death by committee" plan that Watts is trying to implement when it comes to this whole fiasco, but there could be worse people on that committee.

Until you get rid of Watts it doesn't matter who you select as AD.

An AD selected prior to Watts dismissal might as well be considered a lame duck AD.

I wouldn't trust Watts for anything right now.

While there're athletic supporters there - I see no footballers & only 1 ex athlete. I would've expected some more ex athletes involved

And as much as he did for UAB as a player, when did Oliver Robinson last attend a game. How involved is he with UAB right now? If you wanted an ex athlete, Izell Reese would have been a better sole selection

Izell Reese is to close to what's going on for Watts comfort probably. And we can probably guess why there is no true football conection on this search committee.
