Just got one from them a few minutes ago...Says the following:
"UAB Athletics Donors;
The Athletics Assesment Task Force, which has been charged to facilitate an independent review and re-evaluation of the Carr report and financials that led to the discontinuance of the football, bowling and frifle programs, is now meeting.
As part of the process, we want to engage our major constituent groups and have divided initial engagement amongst our team members. We are engaging the UAB Athletics donors...
As part of their initial work to be done, we arein the very initial stages of developing a Request for Proposal (RFP). The RFP will untimately lead to a pool of candidates from which we select the firm(s) to perform the review process. We have discussed the qualifications of potential firms, the timelines necessary for a number of reasons, including C-USA implications and issues, and a mechanism for public input. Obviously the request for proposal will include lots of details and it requires thoughtful preparation. We desire a firm that will provide significant public credibility and knowledge, potentially paired up with a partner possessing deep knowledge of intercollegiate athletics. In other words, if we need to create a partnership between a big name accounting firm and a niche firm with deep expertise in this area, we may elect to do so.
The RFP development is going to be a comprehensive process and is the one we must move along as quickly as possible, but with Quality.
We want your input because we want to make sure we have the questions that our constituents want answered. We also want to make sure the information we ultimately receive is the right information upon which such an important decision/outcome should be based. The resultes must be understandable, able to withstand public scrutiny, and be accepted, whatever that might be in the end.
With that, we are asking that you send any questions you want answered in this process. We have asked Brad Hardekopf, Assistant Athletic Director, to compile and de-duplicate responses. Please send them to him at hardebp@uab.edu. Please think carefully about questions you submit. Questions such as, "why were major constituent groups not consulted as part of the initial process?", while a good question, it is not a relevant question that this task force can answer, a consultant should consider, and the answer does not affect the re-evaluation.
We ask that you attempt to return your questions to Brad by the end of day Thursday. The next task force meeting is Friday night and it would be helpful to have them. THANK YOU!
On behalf of the Athletics Assessment Task Force,"

Well? Anyone want to piggyback off of this? Is this a good sign, in your eyes, or is the jury still out? Taking suggestions for questions to tender as well, if you wish. Thanks for the indulgence, y'all!
