Contacted less than an hour after he got the news football was gone. What a vulture.
How Gundy et al know who to contact to recruit that quickly? I guess that speaks to how widely circulated the knowledge that our program was toast was at the time.

There were reports of this coming out a few weeks before the shut down was announced. Any coach worth a damn would have scouted every player on our team and seen if any could help. It sucks for us, but it doesn't for our players who got to move on.
Coaches from 40+ colleges showed up on campus within a few days...
Like I said -vultures. Someone who feeds off of the recently deceased and often waits around for that entity to die.

I lost all respect for Gundy around the time of the "I'm a man!!" press conference.
It may not meet the SACS standard of proof, but I believe those with experience in dealing with the UA system BOT knew a lot more about what was afoot than those on the outside of the profession. After all, the BOT has been after UAB's FB program for almost 20 years and I'm sure there was talk of it in coaching circles for much of that time. Their question was not "IF" but "WHEN"?

Their job is to field a winning team at their school, not soothe the UAB fan's sensibilities.
I don't think Salako has any idea how good he could be. He could end up a monster. Pisses me off all over again that he won't be doing it in green.
What might have been... I'm so angry still.

Victor had next to zero coaching in high school. He is still learning on the job every game.
Probably a good thing that the coaches were being vultures. Better than the kids waiting around, not knowing if anyone wants them. I'm glad for Salako; he has a ton of potential.
