Just curious.

that or is it being designated for other uses?
UAB is not a land grant college. Property is just as an important resource to UAB as money. My guess is it hasn't been sold.
They just spent millions of dollars to buy it and move Hardy Corp elsewhere. I doubt they have sold it. Regardless of what happens with football and a stadium, they'll find some use for it sometime.
I'm sure Ray Watts can find his version of the Dome of the Rock to construct there in short order.
It's still in our possession.
Until Potera becomes Czar, then he will sell it to the Alabama Department of Corrections for an inmate rehabilitation facility.

Do you mean Dr. Witt? Because Dr. Portera is retired, and was in favor of the stadium project (which is probably why he retired)

I'm trying, but Portera was supportive of UAB football, so I'm still confused.

When asked why he supported uab getting a stadium and uah cutting hockey he pointed out our respective budgets. He was in favor of the OCS and was retired like garrison as a result
I'm not sure I'd call that glowing support. My point was and is, the BOT is going to put a stooge in charge of UaB, be it Potera or another one.

And until Potera shows up for a Save UaB rally, he is still a BOT stooge.
The land has since been changed into a parking lot on the current master plan.

That would make sense. UAB administration does not know for sure what effect the end of the FB program will have on so many possible facets of campus life. Can they count on upward levels of enrollment -- what effect it will have on needs for buildings (last I heard, there are no new buildings currently funded), what plans the BOT has for stifling the school even further?

What if UAB takes a major hit in enrollment so that all those high standards for admission have to be relaxed just to fill the existing classes? Maybe UAB can start lacrosse teams so we can claim to be on a par with Johns-Hopkins?

I speak "tongue in cheek" - (sort of) - but there may be "shoes left to drop" that we don't even know about yet because no public university has EVER had to go through this before. We are embarking on a wilderness journey without a compass or GPS to go by..
