A breezy 82 degrees. Game temp suppose to be around 75-78 degrees.Just drove by the stadium, Lots open at 2 pm. Police are already
pulling people over between I-95/Glades RD exit and the FAU's main entrance.

Watching this game, can't help but think, I am glad Toledo didn't get Marshall, Cato would have eaten UTs secondary alive.
52-23, huskies getting spanked...yikes!

Hate to say, but although they left almost a decade ago, it looks as if Marshall still owns the MAC.

Marshall lost to 5 MAC teams in a row in each of 2010-2014. This year was finally their breakout year with a senior 4th year QB and a senior star WR.

Don't give them too much credit for some kind of dynasty in recent years, but they did have a dominating team this year.
Yep, like Sox said, the MAC had a nice run beating up on Marshall recently. But their team this season is their best since Leftwich's squad.
I hate Marshall. They were cheaters when they got kicked out of the MAC in the 70's, they were cheaters when they came back, and I would venture to say they are still cheaters that just have not been caught yet. They have 31 guys from Florida on their team this year. I won't venture a comment beyond that without having more knowledge on how that many players ended up at Marshall. Just doesn't smell right - especially given their past record of keeping guys on the team and paying them $50/hour not to mop floors on a Saturday morning during the offseason. That and spitting on the wife and daughters of Pinkel, smashing the windows of the band bus, etc. etc.

Marshall never beat Toledo in a game not played on their home field. Toledo beat Marshall on their field - and played more games by more than double as were played in the Glass Bowl. Just buy the MACC games and you get to play the first 5 of 6 MACC games on your home field. They even win a championship in a year when they were humiliated on our home field by a score of 42-0. It was 35-0 at halftime and nose picker Pruett had the audacity to call out Toledo for running up the score because they threw a couple of passes in the second half.

Never known Marshall to be anything but lacking in class and integrity. It goes beyond wins and losses on the football field. It is the cheating that has been institutionalized in Huntington. I would imagine it continued on at the D-2 level so they could compete against the other cheaters - like YSU.

I doubt we ever see Marshall set foot in the Glass Bowl again. They played there how many times during their return to the MAC - twice? 2000 and 2001. We played in Huntington 5 times.

Just the mention of the name Marshall brings up that kind of rant from me. Would like to know how their finances are doing with the CUSA league affiliation. They averaged 26K in fans this year for home games, so I would imagine they are losing money
I was on the field at the Glass Bowl when Marshall was practicing before the 2001 championship game. We had put grease on the goalposts so that they'd be harder to tear down--I think we'd already torn them down after the Minnesota game that year and there'd been problems at other schools with such events. A Marshall player looked up at the goalposts and noticed it, and said "They greased up 'dem poles, 'cause they think they goin' win...". He runs and tells his buddy, who tells his buddy, who told their buddies, and next thing you know, the entire team is gathered around that goalpost with fire in their eyes. That was the angriest assembly of men I have ever seen, and I actually feared for my life and belongings. There was never a more satisfying win than beating those guys the next day.

Next year's championship was the angriest I'd ever gotten when watching a football game. That was the game Byron Leftwich was playing on one leg and his offensive line carried him up to the line of scrimmage after every play. He'd scramble and we'd tackle him in bounds and it'd be a flag for late hit out of bounds. We'd sack him and it'd be a flag for roughing the passer. I think one of the announcers even said something like "You can't do that to a quarterback who's injured"...well if he's injured, get him the hell off the field then!!! Nothing was going to stand in the way of 'their story'. There was nothing we could have possibly done to win that game. I couldn't have been happier to get them out of our conference and was happier yet that they'd fallen flat on their face for 10+ years in their "better" conference.
I was in the band during the 2002 championship game in Huntington. They put our band next to the Marshall student section the morning after an ice storm. Students screamed profanity and threw ice at us most of the game. Add that to the fact that Marshall held numerous times on its last drive and did not get called for it made for a sad day.

We had a good team that season

Actually that game could have been won. In the second half it became fairly obvious that it was one those games that whoever had the ball last was going to win and sure enough that is the way turned out. Unfortunately as the game clock was winding down, Leftwich made a rare poor throw that absolutely should have been intercepted by the UT DB (a very good freshman whose name eludes me now) but was not-----and there was no second chance as Marshall continued the drive without any further mistakes and scored the winning TD.

The Rockets went 2-0 at home against Marshall but Marshall went 4-0 against the Rockets at home thanks in part to the home field MACC game advantage handed to them on a platter as a welcome back to the MAC by a typically bush league MAC front office. I fully believe that favoritism very likely cost UT at least one MACC (in 1998).
Central Michigan. Holy ****

+1. Wow I love this rant and it reminded me of how much I hate Marshall too.

That statement is incorrect. Toledo won in Huntington in 2003, I know because I was there. Trinity Dawson was a beast that night!!!

Toledo and Marshall played 7 times during Marshall's return to the MAC. 5 of those games were in Huntington, 2 in Toledo. The series record was 4-3 in favor of Marshall, but Marshall never won in Toledo, Toledo won in Huntington!!!

I am almost positive that someone a while back posted video of the complete 2001 MACC game. I can't find it anywhere on youtube... anyone know where that gem is buried? I'm really in the mood to watch it again now after reading this thread.
