It featured Wimp Sanderson in Segrest's spot. He and Kevin really went at it about the history of UAB vis a vis Bama in sports. Raita and kevin repeated the idea that the BOT kept its boot on UAB's neck, but Wimp only talked at length about his conflict with Gene Bartow and the infamous "letter to the NCAA". Kevin probably got enough for at least two columns.
I watched Andy Griffith.
Do they have podcast or links to rewatch online?
Yes. Probably will be tomorrow.
Being arrogant and trying to bolster his own accomplishments aside, did Wimp not say that Watts was doing the bidding of someone else ala the BOT?

He stumbled around that saying "I don't know what went on behind the scenes" at least twice. One could draw that conclusion. i doubt that Sanderson will be back on that show any time soon.
The more Wimp talks, the better off UAB and Gene Bartow look. They should let Wimp ramble more often.
Wimp came across as someone searching for his words and covering for his former bosses. Tried to validate Watts in some way, but Kevin and Raita were having none of it, good for them.

"I don't know what went on behind the scenes" sounds just like "You don't know what you don't know".

It sounds like he knew, but he didn't want to say it because it is shameful for the UA Board of Trustees. Of course, we all know it already.
Wimp said on a radio program last week that in the story with Bartow he would be happy to wear the "black hat" to Gene's "white hate" but he and the boosters would "do anything" to keep "their recruits" from being taken away by some "outsider". Sounds like following the rules were secondary back then. Gene was right!
Even Paul Finebaum has publicly stated that Buck Johnson's mother was given a new car by friends of Wimp. I think it was a new Buick Regal.

years ago, a science teacher to told me that a red sports car blew past him at high speed on I-59/20 headed west with "DEUCE" on its license plate. Wonder who that could have been?

Finebaum made his bones at the Post-Herald with that story. If I remember correctly, Johnson announce that he was going to UAB and his mama smacked him on the back of the head and said "Oh no you're not, I'm not giving my refrigerator back!"

Bobby Lee Hurt, Ennis Whatley, and Buck Johnson were what got Gene so mad that he wrote to David Berst in the NCAA enforcement office.

In regard to that "confidential" letter, has anyone ever explained how it came to be made public? Perhaps someone was bribed to hand it over to someone boosting Bama?

That was one of the things I never understood. Weren't Fulmer's accusations right as well and he got ridiculed?
No podcast for this or for the Matt Murphy show from Thur/Fri that I heard so much about last week. WTH??

Yeah. Anyone know why the letter went public? It never should have... this would deter people from reporting anything.

Typically most of the stations at Cumulus won't podcast when shows are guest-hosted unless otherwise prompted. I'd tweet Matt Murphy and see if he or his producer would be willing to put it up. I'm sure they would if asked.
