Good job, Hoover.
We need more municipalities to do this. Everyone on here, write and call your local city council and encourage them to take similar actions. Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Trussville, Leeds, Homewood, and whatever else is in surrounding counties.
I'm writing the city of Courtland. The town's high school (Courtland turned RA Hubbard) had numerous players play at UAB.
Thank you, Hoover City Council. UAB athletics is good for the opportunities of Hoover youth, especially the many good football players Hoover turns out. Hoover and Bham need the educational opportunities afforded by UAB football and the chance to play close to home for our local athletes.
Great to see the support growing!!!
Hoover, Gardendale, and Irondale have all issued proclamations.
I just wrote the mayor and five city council members of Helena.

UAB football gives opportunities to local football players, as well as cheerleaders and band members.
This is big, guys. Hoover pulls a lot of weight.
The Homewood City Council was receptive when I emailed them about it.
I've got it on the Agenda for the City of Pinson this Thursday Night. I hope that we can get every city in the metro area to pass a resolution.

I can tell you right now the athletic boosters and band boosters are a constituency that local elected officials ignore at their own peril. Parents of High School Athletes and band members want their children to have an opportunity to play in college and even though their child might not have gotten a scholarship to UAB they are smart enough to understand that there are now more students vying for the remaining scholarships at the schools that do have a football program.

One thing for sure, the PR guys are going to have work a miracle to overcome the waves of negative news.

I hope that if UAB football comes back, these municipalities will continue to show support and put their money where there proclamations are.

Municipal elections are held every four years in this state. When was the last time a member of the UA Board of Trustees was elected to their position? The people have a right to be heard and just because the BOT is spending and controlling tax dollars without being represented by the people doesn't mean that elected officials should remain silent on the importance of UAB football.
These municipalities have sent their sons and daughters to UAB for 40 years. Better believe they have a stake.

Amen, Brother!

So do I. The program has always hurt for consistent support. These are the areas UAB needs to draw from for support. The city can only do so much.
If we can get the lost programs restored, everyone calling Watts out need to step up on the support. Every city, every student, blogger, mayor, fan, faculty, alumnus, business, every single one of us.
The Mayor of Helena said he will absolutely draft up a resolution and have it on the agenda at their next meeting. Unfortunately that won't be until January.

Thanks KevMo!
Any parent that wants their high school athlete child to go to college close to home better sit up and realize that UAB athletics is important to their region. Hell, it's important to the young people of central Alabama. This state is capable of having a Conference USA member and two SEC members. Anything less is backwards BS, unsportsmanlike, petty, and dishonest and not worthy of the football capital of the nation.
