Need some help digging up info on the longstanding problems UAB has had from the board of trustees. I'm too young to know the whole story. I need links to articles or any info related to the subject. Think we have someone willing to write the story for us.

I have copy of Lights in the Valley if you or he/she needs to borrow. It shows how State Government from the beginning did not want Birmingham to have a traditional campus.

Bill Baxley is quoted saying " when [Dick] Hill hired Bartow at a salary slightly higher than C.M. Newton's [the UA basketball coach] and I discussed this with Coach Bryant, I saw clearly where UAB leaders were headed - a traditional campus with big-time athletics. This was wrong for the state, and that's the reason I eased through the rules change. The board as of the early 1980s was not going to block what UAB was trying to do. Shows how the UABOT is actually set up to limit UAB.

Interesting I had no idea this crap went that far back and this nefarious. This will be useful in hopefully swaying our Representatives to undo this especially the Bham and Jeffco Reps.

I would recommend a collaborative effort and make the group strong enough that one grenade couldn't get all of them.
