Emmert's background is the west coast area and Washington in particular. He may not fully understand what just happened at UAB since that would require being aware of the omnipotent position of the UA BOT in Alabama, and what they have a history of doing to any who displease them over football. He is likely to just take as truth any explanation that involves financial considerations since that is something common around the nation, particularly in the "G5" conferences.
