Where is the meeting this morning?
Cudworth Hall. Near the corner of 20th Street South and University Blvd. Right beside the DoubleTree.
Watts admitting through a written statement (he's not there) that mistakes were made and they are going to setup a task force made up of students, faculty, alumni, and community members to "look at" the process.

This is a step in the right direction, but unless they are specifically charged with the ability to reverse that decision after identifying funding, then it's a joke and just designed to cover people's asses and placate the senate.

I'm sure the people who will be on the task force are the people who met with Dr. Watts in secret yesterday.

Watts is stalling. He is hoping this will placate the students in the mean time and hoping the FreeUAB movement will eventually die down. He is afraid of the no confidence vote.

Feeble attempt at CYA.

I would like this process to happen after Watts is removed.
So Mr. Whats, you subscribe to the theory that it's easier to just go ahead and do to a bad thing and then ask for forgiveness later. Now you can pretend you want to include everyone in the future. You are scum Whats and I don't want you affiliated with my university.

Good comment. Shoot first ask questions later. But what do you expect from a puppet?
I'm starting to get the feeling the Senate is not going to act in the way everyone wants them to. This "task force" will be enough to prevent that. And, I'm sure that restoring football will not be an option, so this will all be for show.
"A process that produces open, constructive dialogue and unity in the future."

Open constructive dialogue my a**

How in the h*** can you have open dialogue when you never show your face in public! Only have secrets meetings behind closed doors!
You sir are a disgrace to this university!!

Please save yourself and whatever dignity you have left and resign NOW!
You guys need to catch up on the live tweeting of this. More information coming out about who was and wasn't involved the the process. Opinions offered up to watts in weeks and months prior. Etc etc etc

If you weren't mad before you certainly will be now. There is absolutely no way you can convince me that watts acted alone in making the decision and wasn't pressed to do this. This was a murder for hire job.

You put more faith in the Watts letter than I do.

I think it will be seen for what it is, self-serving claptrap.

Absolutely not acceptable, since the biggest mistake of all was the outcome of this mistaken process...the death of football. That mistaken decision, flowing out of his self admitted flawed process, needs to be immediately rescinded and put on the table for this task force.

There is still time, this week, for him to rescind and football to survive, although heavily damaged already.

Can anyone get this note to the media today, with a public call for Watts to correct his self admitted and publicly obvious mistakes ny immesiately rescinding the decision?

I got that image from Fox 6. They distributed copies of it to everyone who is attending the Faculty Senate meeting
So he thinks the timing of exams could delay him forming a task force... but exams had no influence of his decision to drop a bomb on the hearts of the people actually taking the exams.
Messina not being included is not a surprise. But I think helps our cause. If he wasn't involved, it just further illustrates Watts had no care in the world what the faculty thought about this.
They're now going into executive session. This is when you start sweating, folks.
