Its really not a bad article.

We are now lab rats in the college football world. UAB will continue to be the test case for what happens when the football program is cut. Our situation will be cited as the test case for every other university that considers doing it.

How we handle this over the next 6 months may well shape the future of college football.

These are, indeed, exciting times. Just not quite the way we had planned....

I didn't see anyone from the admin quoted. Did you read the article. It compares are situation to Tulane and shows that in 2003, Tulanes vote to keep football was a good one.

That article hits very close to home for Tulane fans, too.

The programs that participated in C-USA 1.0 from 1995-2005 really were planted exactly on the fault-line separating the haves and have-nots. Louisville and TCU somehow kicked and scratched and clawed their way into the upper tier. Others like Tulane and UAB have been riven with internal arguments over whether or not to simply have a football team in the first place.

Good luck with the campaign to oust Rat Watts. That is the first, imperative step on the Blazers' road to recovery.

My take on the article was positive. It stated why football is kept at universities in spite of cost, something the Carr people should have looked deeply into. What is the long term cost to the University due to eliminating football, well like the article said, UAB may be the test case.
I hope the results of eliminating football is quickly realized before its to late for UAB to recover.
