When I retired from UAB in 2004, UAB had the goal of becoming one of the top 10 Medical Centers in the nation. It is now 34th and as the article stated, sliding further down the ladder. So sad. The problem is leadership at the top and the belief that money will solve all the organizations problems. No; treating people right, having goals that change the world and leadership that have vision and lead without fear and through example. UAB doesn't have that anymore. Every decision is driven by dollars. So sad.
