By-laws. By-laws cannot be ignored in making an executive decision. Unless one is delusional. Mr. Johns, you know that. Your company deals with the constraints of contracts everyday. The premise of staying in Conference USA should not have even been purported in the Carr report. Unless it had been previously negotiated.

No doubt. If they cared for any sport at UAB, they would not have made this move without making a deal with CUSA first. I'm sure they didn't, and they wacked Football anyway.
I agree with this. It mays Watts appear either 1) stupid, or 2) deceptive and naive. Either way, it reflects very poorly on him. Something of this magnitude, had he cared about UAB, should have been worked out before appearing with the football team and the press. There should have already been a plan on how the money from UAB football would be re-invested in the other programs. There should have been a plan about the conference affiliation of our remaining sports. There should have been an attitude of humility and thanks for those in the cut programs for how they have represented UAB.

None of these were done. Even if he believed the report and thought it was legitimate, he should have at MINIMUM done the things above. But he didn't. He has shown his true colors, and they are not GREEN and GOLD.
