The premise from the report that UAB can stay in Conference USA without football is the flaw needing exposed immediately. We need C-USA to help by not waiting to take action. DO IT NOW! PLEASE. ANNOUNCE TERMINATION OF UAB's MEMBERSHIP IMMEDIATELY. Effective June 30, 2015. A conference call or whatever is needed to get it done. We (UAB) need all who care about the institution, faculty senate including, to get a taste of how a football-less UAB is going to play out in today's world of intercollegiate athletics, including geography. Who the fellow institutions are about to become, the distance and costs of travel for UAB and its student-athletes, and the resulting time away from campus is information of this ill-advised decision that will be attention attracting to even more UAB constituents and could be a difference maker.
I agree. I am tempted to the CUSA offices and talk to whoever I can to encourage a swift decision.
Here's the problem with this, though. Do we want to expose the flaw and prove Watts to be an idiot, but in the process screw over the other student athletes? I have difficulty WANTING to get kicked out with no viable backup even if it hurts Watts.

Indeed. I think the specter of not being there in mid-2015 is damning enough to Watts that we shouldn't be trying to burn the bridges Mackin built for the rest of this year in the process!!
If we win our fight but have asked to be kicked out of the conference we're fighting to remain in... well, that's awkward, innit?

Awkward indeed. Ridiculous idea.
One thing we need to focus on is and then saying we cant raise money for it. Watts not allowing any donations to football
We really don't want to get kicked out of CUSA. The second that happens, if and when we restart football, it will immediately be in the sun belt. We also have nationally recognized programs in every sport in CUSA.(rice baseball, Charlotte soccer, ODU-UTEP-Charlotte-WKU basketball) we won't get that anywhere else. If CUSA holds onto us, we have some hope moving forward. If not, we will likely never be relevant in any sport again.

Yep. If it's all about numbers, why won't you allow those numbers to be fixed where they can be?
Many options for opposing this action by Mr. Watts. So much to think about. Yet I cannot get past shining a light on where UAB will end up in intercollegiate conference affiliation, its peers in many ways, as the most critical in the near time. As soon as possible. A light for all business and government leaders to see without speculation. It will likely be the worst affiliation in the history of UAB.

Oh, no doubt.
