Ever just thought about what power he had? Facilities, creation of basketball , moving from the BJCC to on campus arena, formation of football and other sports. When he stepped down as AD, what exactly has grown really? It's amazing what he did.
And only after his death did "they" begin to dismantle it.

Not a coincidence, IMHO.

I think "they" recognized him as one man -- possibly the only man -- who could, all by himself, galvanize public opinion in Birmingham and around Alabama in favor of growing and strengthening UAB athletics.

And "they" really are some of the most cowardly and despicable cretins on the face of the earth.

As a non-UAB person, I confess that I had always viewed 58-56's occasional diatribes as just a wee bit over the top. Well, mea culpa Blazers. He wasn't exaggerating the problems, he was (if anything) understating them.

Having lived in Alabama for about 15 years (77-92) I believe I have some genuine concept of what "they" are like and are capable of. But even so, I am just stunned by this unprovoked attack on such a positive part of Alabama's community. Stunned and appalled.

I am certain this is true.
Unfortunately, the power of Bear Bryant was too much, even for the Ghost of Bartow.
I want to hear Murray's (Bartow) thoughts on someone's dismantling his father's legacy.
I want to hear about when PBJ dies.

This. The sooner, the better.
His legacy destroyed in part by those that professed love for him. The rot has been in UAB athletics since Black Friday. Inserted ironically by Richard Scrushy, a criminal who ended up never giving the Blazers a dime.

Thanks I feel for him, if someone tried to tear down all my Dad's or Grandfather's (who recently passed away and we have family issues and his business is involved) accomplishments. I would feel horrible, sad, and angry all at the same time.
