actually I wanted to see if anyone had Coach Clark's email address.

I had something I wished to share with him if I could.
bump please.
Yep, I noticed that.

I also noticed that the email of a certain head coach of another school wasn't either, yet I think I may have figured it out.
He does have a Twitter account, though: @CoachBillClark
& he uses it..I've heard back from him several times.
Yep, I know. Just had a little bit of personal info I wished to share with him.

Just doing what I can in the matter.
coachbc@uab.edu

Let this man know how much we appreciate him.

Coach Clark,

I am not going to take a lot of your time. You may be the busiest man in football right now. I wanted to thank you for what you have done for UAB Football, our school, and all alumni. Thank you for standing up. My grandfather was one of the biggest men in my life. He died in 2001 and I am so thankful he saw me graduate from UAB in December 1999. As a child, a teenager, and as a young man he taught me much. But the one thing he taught me was "you do what is right." Not what is right by you, or what is right by your political party, or what is right by your team. You do what is right. It is that simple.

Coach, you do what is right. Thank you for showing that example to our players, our university, our community, and our state. I am glad to have you as our coach at UAB. I don't know what the future holds for our program. They may kill it. If it does happen or when that time may come to move to greener pastures, I do know you have a fan for life regardless where you coach (though I might struggle with it if you ever coach at that school to the southwest down I-20/59).

Next time you find yourself in Huntsville, email me, call me, tweet me. I can't promise you a steak, but I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to buy you lunch along with a few other Huntsville Blazers!

Sincerely and In Partnership,
Jeremy Foulks

Sent him an email.
Just received a hand-written reply that he attached to my email:

Quote:Coach Clark,

I've spent a few moments thinking of what to write. Words fail me. Every sentence seems inadequate... they don't property capture the gravity of the situation or express enough the appreciation people like myself and others have for you.

You have brought hope and excellence to this program. As a result, you've brought hope and excellence to this city. I have faith that men of integrity will stand up to be counted. Thank you for what you have done. And thank you to your family as well; I'm sure this situation is a shared sacrifice.

Count me among the many who hope you will stay and receive all the support you need -- and more -- to build an outstanding program based on excellence and hard work. I wish you, your family, your staff, and your players nothing but the best.

Sincerely,
He gave you a hand written response as an attachment to an email?

I'm guessing an assistant is printing them off and that he's writing responses on them to be scanned as a reply.
What he lacks in legibility he makes up for in character.
What a nice gesture for him to actually write out a response. The art of letter writing, even if it is just a short note, has mostly been lost in this day and age.

Agreed. And often, a note doesn't take much longer to compose than an email. Human touch!

Pretty much...But I still do it from time to time...#OldSchool
I sent Coach Clark an email last night and received a written response as well:

"Coach Clark,

I know you are busy and I hope that this missive does not interrupt or distract you from your preparations for Saturday's game against Southern Miss. I wish only to tell you directly how much I appreciate your efforts and accomplishments in these trying times.

Like you, I am an alumnus of Jacksonville State, and I am also an alumnus of the Marching Southerners (Whup Troy!). Before that, though, I was a freshman at UAB and a member of the Marching Blazers. It may seem strange, given my actual alma mater, but UAB has always been what I considered to be "my school." I have been a strong fan since I was in middle school in the early 90s, continuing through all these years, through the high points - of which there were depressingly few - and the low.

When the news broke that you accepted the position at UAB, I felt better as a fan than I'd felt in the past 15 years, including when I watched the stunning victory over LSU in Death Valley. I believed then, and continue to believe, that you are the perfect coach for a school like UAB. You have given these players something to believe in, and you have shown them that they can be so much more than they've been these last few years. More than this, you have taught them the values of family, respect, and class.

I don't know what the future holds for UAB. I am purely mortified at the behavior of the trustees and the administration these last few weeks. I hope and pray that they do the right thing for the university, the community, and the team. These kids all deserve to be treated so much better than they have been; YOU deserve to be treated so much better as well.

Coach Clark, I don't know that any of us can change what has probably already been decided, for good or ill. Regardless of the outcome, I hope you know that there are tens of thousands of people out here that still support you and the team, and we will fight to the bitter end on your behalf and on behalf of the young men who look up to you. If we should fail, please know that we will always support you wherever you go for the simple fact that you brought us all hope once again. For that, and for all else that you have done to bring this program one shining chance to succeed, I offer my most profound and deepest thanks.

With kindest regards and best wishes for all your endeavors,

He responded today with:

"Thank you for the kind words! We have enjoyed every minute of getting to know these players and building a team! Go Blazers and God Bless! - Coach Clark".

That man is one each class act. I don't care where he goes - even if he goes to Arkansas (which I loathe), I'd still pull for him.
I got a similar response. He is the man!
I also got a handwritten response.

The last line was interesting, and I'm not sure what to read into it, if anything. "We had a ball coaching these kids!" Had being the key word there.
