We need to get SACS to investigate. Getting the entire university system on academic probation might be the only way to fix the bot.

I like the way you think. I mentioned SACS in a tweet last week (Along with the US Department of Justice).

SACS won't do anything unless there is documentation of wrongdoing. Right now all we have are noncommittal public statements and suppositions. WE can connect the dots but they require the picture to be pretty much already drawn to get involved

If that was doable, they would have been brought to task for what they did on November 2011, right? Did they or did they not violate this state's open meeting, or so-called "sunshine" law? It's not to say I'm against the idea, if SACS can curb stomp these bastards, I'm all in favor of it & whatever else it might take to "exterminate" these "cockroaches."

But, can SACS be trusted to be neutral and objective in the face of this if called upon? Or are there Alabama football fans on their staff, too?

SACS doesn't care about about North Carolina's 18 years of massive, institutionally-condoned fraud. The Trustees could dress Carol Garrison in a chain-mail bikini and sacrifice her to their dark gods on the steps of Denny Chimes and SACS would not care.

Auburn was put on probation over their bot micromanaging athletics. In 2011 people here were againt trying to get SACS involved because of the damage it would do to UAB academically. That's going to happen anyway. If it's possible to have a negative affect on UAT that's wort the risk

Especially in the area of enrollment, perhaps? I'm sure there are some UAB supporters that have young children like myself and would have liked to send them to UAB when they become of age, but after this are now perhaps reconsidering this as well...I know I am. Anyone else?

Somehow I think gettig UAB on academic probation would have a whole slew of unintended (mostly negative) consequences.

Are we ready for the SACS guys?

I'm all in on this fight. If SACS can help, call them. We do need evidence though- real evidence.

I've got a good number of years left before my daughter is college bound, but my four kids were/are prime candidates to be UAB students someday, but now, that likelihood is in question.

You aren't the only one who has said they would not send their child to UAB or they would forbid it. When I was entering college, I pretty much chose for myself where they were going, and I assume my kids will make that choice.

I don't get where everyone thinks they will decide their kids lives at that age.

And if you do have that power, are we Bammerish enough to let whether a school has football decide if it is a good college?

If Football is lost, it will change what I think about Watts and Mackin, but it won't change what I feel for UAB.

You aren't the only one who has said they would not send their child to UAB or they would forbid it. When I was entering college, I pretty much chose for myself where they were going, and I assume my kids will make that choice.

It's not football that's the issue. It's gutting the undergrad. My son also intended on playing in the band which won't exist without football

I know all about it. The board was micromanaging the athletics department behind the scenes.

Shutting down an entire program is not micromanaging and is precisely one of the board's prerogatives. I don't want to see it happen, I think we should put all pressure we justly can to prevent it, but jumping up and down about federal lawsuits and SACS and things that are not relevant make people seem a little nutty.
