Could it be that everything is being held close to the vest because UAB is about to drop a bombshell on the BOT? Taking the initial steps to break away from the UA BOT?
They could be using the study to show how the BOT has been holding us back.
That would take an act of our Legislature which to put it kindly ain't happening.
I know it would take legislature but I have a feeling we are all in for a great surprise. Staying positive.
Well it had best be a doozy after all the negative press we have been getting lately.
I still believe in Mackin always saying things will take care of itself. I understand why an uproar has occurred, that is to be expected anytime you are dealing with Bear Jr. Who knows Bear Jr. could want to leave upon retirement approving UAB's future. Nonetheless, all of this has been bad timing and Mackin, Watts and Jr. are all to blame in placing the UAB supporters on a time table until after the Southern Miss game.

all of this could have been put to bed with all of those in position to do so expressing and showing their open support for the program with the appropriate approval of facilities and contract extensions, but all these (bleep)ers live for is to rain on UAB Football's parade whenever they even get a sniff of progress, & our testicularly-challenged representatives are nothing more than "paper dragons."

03-lmfao this is the assumed position of Mackin, Watts, & William Bell, who knows he's about as influential & effective in this matter as kerosene on a stab wound.

You choose to form your opinion based on the articles you have read. I choose to form my opinion based on the articles I've read.

That is where you would be incorrect. You choose to form your opinion based on articles you've read. I do not.
You believe my head is in the sand because I believe UAB football will not be killed by the BOT. That's your opinion. Fine. I choose to stay positive.
I think Ray Watts is a better politician and card player than we are giving him credit for. I cannot believe that Ray-Ray is a 100% BOT Stooge.

There is still a lot to be played out.
When the study is finished and the exciting announcement is made, this board will be so interesting to read. More so than now.
I have not seen one piece of information that leads me to be positive.
That's the thing. No one has seen any information. It's all speculation. So things are not being done the "normal" way most other schools would have done them. When has UAB athletics ever followed the norm?

Never have more guys wanted desperately to be wrong.

I need help from someone in the know with understanding the significance of the Birmingham and Huntsville delegation in the Alabama legislature. I know that the past the Birmingham delegation has been almost unanimous in their support of UAB. I also know that the business community in Huntsville was hopping mad about BOT's interference with UAH. They somehow got the BOT to back down after they and their hand picked new president shut down their hockey team (admittedly not before they ruined the competitiveness of the team for many years to come). If the two delegations joined together with some outside support, could they force a separation of the three campus or at lease throw one hell of a scare into the BOT by threatening it?
