I just got a call tonight asking for money.

My response: I normally give to UAB, but until President Watts decides the future of UAB athletics...don't call me again.

Beautiful response, way to send a message. Mine is gonna be similar if they dare send such an email, they really have some (bleeping) nerve after what they've just done! Put that in your "study", Watts and Mackin.
Great respose lets all do this

You can count on mine! Can't believe they have the b***s to ask for money after this.
Dear Dr. Watts

The [Smaug] household is currently undergoing a review to determine how best to invest its resources. We're still waiting on some details regarding UAB athletics and its undergraduate programs. Once the study is complete, and we have all necessary data in hand, we then map out the best allocation of our resources.

You may rest assured that the determination of resource allocation will be data-driven, and in the best interests of the [Smaug] household as a whole.

In the interim, I implore you to renew your support for UAB today. Let's do this!

Warmest personal regards,

It'll be data driven.
Sent my response on my email
My response was brief and blunt. Not a damn dime, ever.
Unfortunately, I don't think either Watts or Mackin can or will survive this - no matter how it goes. Watts has shown himself to be no leader at all and if he kills football UAB will suffer as the populace turns on him even more. If he doesn't kill football his lack of leadership in all of this and the BOTs vengeance will doom him. The same goes to Mackin. I say "unfortunately" because they have nothing to lose by killing the program and because of what would replace them...

I think at some point there should be a public "no confidence" vote by the alumni association - especially if football is killed.
I got a voice mail message from Blazer Boosters yesterday and returned the call today.

I politely told the representative that I have $50/month to commit to AN athletic program for 2015.

However, it is up to Dr. Watts and Mr. Mackin where that goes. Depending on their study, it will either go to Blazer Boosters or to the Blue & Gold at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Sometimes the NAS should speak out up front on things.

the same alumni association, to my knowledge, has also said nothing openly or publicly about supporting UAB Football?

Fine by me, especially if football is put down, they both need to GTFO...I'm already in "zero confidence mode" where they're concerned & then they have the stones to solicit contributions for their (bleeping) "campaign?" Oh, they're going to see a "campaign" like they've never seen before around here if this doesn't result in our football team staying put, better facilities & a (bleeping) raise and contract extension for Coach Clark, what they've done to him & our fan base is reprehensible! No other (bleeping) university in this (bleeping) state is going thru this bull**** except UAB!!! Pathetic!!!
They can't be this stupid/gutless to just sit there and lie/bluff because if this turns out negatively their careers are done.

Wanna bet, my friend? One thing's for sure, no one's lying or bluffing about pulling their support for UAB if this thing goes the wrong way. Local news is gonna have a (bleeping) field day with this!
Something i've noticed is tha AB seems to have gone relatively quiet today. Only a few of posts. Not sure if that's a bad thing, but it makes me a little nervous.
