Great! Austin called called spade a spade!
Nice. Thank you Mr Austin!

Good stuff.
"Might", hell! It "Does!!!"
Just sent him a thank you email. Those comments were definitely a shot across the brow.
Wouldn't call it a game changer, but that is a huge chip to fall out of the Cabal's control. Finis really may have stepped on too many toes...his last name isn't a trump card like his Sith master.

We can only hope. Various politicians pressuring the board can't do any harm, but what good as all that if Watts is on Finis' side and wants to shut down the program too? The BOT could loosen their pressure, but Watts could still make the move. Call me a pessimist, but I've just got a bad feeling about all this 03-puke
That's what I'm talking about! Not going quietly into that goodnight.
I applaud Austin and emailing him a thank you.
04-clap2 Love It! 04-clap2
so, there is someone on that City Council that's not kissing Bryant's wrist! I have to tender him an email ingratiation.

My father, who knew many of these people very well, told me years ago to never forget that it's not about hate. It's about power and money (which are essentially the same thing). Even what seems like hate (PBJr's animosity towards UAB athletics, for example) boils down to someone getting their power/money shoved back in their face. I don't care how spiteful, these people will not sacrifice their leverage - which is power, which is money - for anything. Because without it, even if UAB football is gone, they face a future where they can accomplish nothing. Put enough of their power/money on the line and they will think twice (and three, four, five times).

Jay Roberson has spoken up for us (publicly) too.

Yeah I understand and hope that we're successful with this approach at the BOT level. I'm just saying even we can win this battle, it may not matter if Watts is the one leading the charge and makes the shut down decision all on his own.
