I know for some, Hoover is not an ideal situation for UAB football. But what if the Hoover Met could save UAB football for the time being? If Legion Field really is one of the problems, then UAB should not play there if it is a reason the program is at currently. It would be more of an actual game atmosphere with less seats with a near, if not a sellout. Desperate times equal desperate measures, and I'm sure it could be arranged to play there. I know the BOT is the main reason for this week's news, but being proactive on the matter only helps.
Venue has nothing to do with their agenda to shut down UAB Football and switching venues will not fix it.
Unless there would be a way to consistently hold 22,000, there's no way. It would probably take capital improvement from Hoover.

Currently, the best option continues to be partnering with Birmingham. I hope our current plight will lend itself to accelerate Bham's commitment to a new facility, whatever that is.
They don't care where we play, they want to cut the program's throat.

Sounds like we botched an opportunity to partner with the Barons in sharing a more multi-purpose stadium.
Sounds like we need our own stadium.

+1. I never thought I would say this before, but Legion Field is the least of our problems.
Has nothing to do with where we play. Everything to do with three egos on the board.

the "Three Ego Amigos"
Then let's fill Legion.
UAB has played at the Met, years ago. I was there. I believe the opponent was UT-Martin.
How many times must it be said? The Hoover Met is not the solution to ANY of UAB's football problems and would only make things worse. The location is horrible, it's not nearly big enough, and watching football in a minor league baseball stadium would be TERRIBLE.
If UAB loses D1 football, it might field a D3 (nonscholarship) FB team and play BSC as an equal at the new soccer facility. If that happens, our matching D3 basketball team could also play BSC at the Harris Arena as well. And we could watch on TV as USA plays C-USA games as our replacement.

Sorry, the blue font is not available.

Bingo.

Legion Field is a better option, because the Met is no option at all.
The focus should be on the administrations lack of a spine here folks not anything else.

There should already be a stadium on UAB's campus. Anything less than that is a lot less than the program deserves.
