or prepare to be booed at every photo op he shows up for in basketball, provided there's a large enough crowd on hand to do so if he allows this to happen to our football team. Those who stand for nothing, fall for anything...

Just a thought but could the study be done to prove Watts wrong? Think about it we all know UAB needs football for the other sports to compete because their conference standings will be lost without football. Could the Athletic Department study have been done for this reason? Football attendance is up and the program is looking for its second bowl game. These two things make cutting football a very poor decision.
In the interim, Clark leaves, recruits leave.

Not worth waiting on any study.
Given the positivity of this year ANY study that says UAB football cannot be successful is a SHAM. Everyone sees that. Carr and Associates' credibility is on the line with this study. One would think they would see what's going on and the study would reflect such. If the study comes back with negative findings regarding UAB football Carr and Associates will be recognized as a rubberstamping "research" firm that will find what they are TOLD to find...

It doesn't have to have negative results. It could simply say UAB needs XX millions in support to grow a successful program. Powers that be say well, we don't have millions. Goodbye.

Or it could say given football's recent success and positive momentum and the impact cutting football will have on other sports and their conference affiliatons, cutting football is both premature and detrimental to UAB Athletics.
Brian Mackin is probably sitting on his thumb. He is a nice guy and all but I have never been sold on his ability to professionally run an athletic program.

But can you imagine what his replacement would be like...
Carr is in the business of making money. They just do consulting to do it. They're not paid to be sunshine pumpers but if their report leads to the death of a D1 program ADs are going to think twice before hiring them, especially of their finding don't square with known facts.

In my experience outside groups are hired as consultants when the two parties inside a business or institution can not agree or reach an understanding. This to me explains Watt's non answer and Mackin's silence. Now common sense tells me football is here to stay for the near future, but we will have to wait and see.
It's not about the study peeps, it is about the lack of a long term contract for Clark & schedule.

That should have been done well before now.
Most schools are probably close to finalizing their non conference football schedules for 2018 by this point.
That isn't as big of a deal. Play A&M & State at home & 2 games are down.

The bigger issue is that our "Saban" doesn't have a long term contract.
