I fail to see the logic behind any of this. College Football serves the same purpose as High School Football...it builds school spirit and build a common bond for the students, foster alumni giving, and instills school pride for the alumni base. If its good for Birmingham Southern, Samford, Alabama State, South Alabama, Troy, Alabama A&M then why not UAB. What makes UAB students unlike the students who attend the universities I just listed? The common thread is all the universities try to foster a well rounded education that includes an environment that ignites a life time sense of connection through various means and the main vehicle for that besides the degree is sports.

College Football is king in the south, why would we want to deny that to our student base? Why do we want our students cheering for other state universities because they have no team to cheer for? Some how Dr. Watts has it wrong....his loyalties are miss placed. Maybe he should be President at some other institution of higher learning.....but not here. He should be the first person out the gate pushing for a successful program because it only enhances his position.

Why does it seem like we have more than our fair share corrupt individuals standing in the way of progress?

I guess I'm full of whys tonight.....just thinking it through and there's no rhyme nor reason just ignorance03-banghead

You're absolutely right, of course. Sadly, Watts is being shown to be nothing but PBJ's lap dog. How these petty, small minded men can diminish the lives of the thousands that care about UAB and Birmingham is beyond me. It's just mind-boggling that an institution on which so much depends can be subject to a self-appointing board with no accountability which pursues personal vendettas that harm an entire community. Unreal. Unfair. Un-American.
