I don't have cable, but the box score tells me Joe Webb returned a kick last night. No mention of Darrin Reaves that I can find.
Announcer said Darrin was cut when Williams came back from injury...
So back to the practice squad, or cut completely?

Darrin should've came back for his senior season.

While he might have benefited from another year at UAB, he could have been wiped out by any kind of injury since he was marginal as a pro. I recall our DB (R. Brooks) who left early, went to the Colts and was found to have a neck injury that fall to end his career. Had that happened in his senior year at UAB instead of his first year with the Colts, he would have had no pro career at all.

If McGee had left earlier, he probably would still be here along w/ Austin yet McGee chose to stay around long enough to screw things up even more than he did on the field.

With Howard further cutting into his carries, his stock would have likely dropped.

I remember Coach Clark saying how much he liked Reaves, and wish he had stayed.
I think it worked out well for everyone. Reaves gets paid to play football and gets a start in the NFL, Jordan is the workhorse and will be all conference, and DJ Vinson gets moved to RB and becomes a significant contributor and breaks a school record with 5 rushing TD's in one game. Win, win, win.

This is true04-cheers
I wouldn't be so quick to say Howard will be all conference.
#3 in yards per game currently, and his average should climb given the Alabama A&M game skewing him down right now. I like his chances.

I think Darrin would have only helped his stock, since it would have been another year as a part of a two back system, with the difference being all of the fruits of a better coaching staff - strength and conditioning, more snaps per game, higher win total, possible postseason exposure, etc. Backs that work in tandem seem to have no trouble getting drafted.

However, "why play for free when you can get paid" is a hard argument to rebut.
I think Reaves made the right choice by leaving. RB's take a beating and typically don't have very long pro careers. Better for him to go while his body is a year younger.
I would have liked to have seen what Coach Clark's staff could have done with a weapon like Reaves this year. I think he didn't make the right choice overall, his chances at being successful in the NFL leaving a year early weren't worth sacrificing a free degree for. I understand why he chose to do what he did though. He is a good kid and a good player but it's only because of injuries that he has been able to play in the NFL regular season. I suspect he would have increased his stock (even with reduced carries) under Clark. He of course could have never known that
