Auburn is 15 points worse than Miss State

Arkansas is 24 points worse than Auburn, which is, therefore, by our objective measure of the best in the realm, 39 points worse than Miss State

Therefore UAB is going to defeat Arkansas by 26 points.

We are 13 points worse than Miss State

Arkansas is 7 points worse than aTm, which is, therefore, by our objective measure of the best in the realm, 24 points worse than Miss State

Therefore UAB is going to defeat Arkansas by 11 points.

Either way you slice it, we can't lose! 03-nutkick
I think a lot depends on if Clements will play.

Arkansas has a huge OL. The one dimensional aspect of their offense has trouble against SEC size and speed, but so far this year they have rolled OOC teams.
Arkansas' OL runs 6'5" and up, and exceeds 300 lbs. all the way across. Stopping the run is going to be a real chore. If I were them I'd run it down our throat and throw just enough to keep the defense honest. This is a tough one.

If we do win, we've accomplished something.

You would make a great voter for the polls.

FIFY
I have a feeling they're going to take the "International Harvester" approach and try to power run UAB's defensive front a lot. If that's the case, hopefully, they will fail...a lot! I like my sausage well done, a blow out would be so great, as I have to work this weekend with a former Arkansas player, we will be watching the game somehow, and I want bragging rights when it's over. UAB by 3, a GWFG by Ty Long as regulation time expires.
We won't be able to surprise Arkansas like we did Miss St. Every team since FIU knows what we run and knows our strengths and weaknesses. Arkansas will out-physical us in the 2nd half because our depth just isn't there yet.

I just don't see this game going well at all for us... I'm hoping I'm wrong. Prove me wrong, Blazers!
We didn't really surprise Miss St, and if you go back and watch the tape objectively, you will realize that things were not as close as our green colored glasses made them appear.

Mississippi State knew they would beat us and decided to use the game to work on some things. They played fundamentally unsound football in the name of getting reps for backups and not showing defensive alignments on tape.

They ran the same zone blitz, without bothering to disguise it, on something like 15 plays, including on all three of our long TD passes. I pointed this out before the FIU game and warned that FIU would not be doing that and had a real chance to cause us problems.

They didn't play their Heisman Trophy front running QB for large parts of the 1st half so they could get some meaningful reps for his backup.

They knew they could do these things and still win. It made the game close at halftime, so they came out in the second half and destroyed us on three straight drives, getting TD's on all 3 of them.
Then they took the foot off the gas and ran the ball on 12 of the next 14 plays to run out the game.
They didnt even bother to play prevent D at the end of the game (because why show that on tape) and instead ran the same zone blitz we had seen all game long, so we got a late TD to bring the margin of victory under 20 points. Yay us!

Be cautious with your M$U game analysis Matt. I used the term "woodshed" in what I thought was an objective manner in my interpretation, and was quickly vilified for it.
Be careful about prognosticating Dak Prescott's heisman chances too 05-stirthepot

And if they gave out the Trophy in half a seasons work, right now Prescott would get to prize.

But if it worked that way, Denard Robinson and Geno Smith would have one too.

Why would they not have done like every other team does in that situation and secure the game before they started playing around?

I think they hoped they could win without showing anything to LSU and found out that they couldn't. I guarantee you that the game didn't go down according to their script like you made it seem.

Well put. It really drives me crazy how we keep pointing back to this game as a fan base. Ive never seen a fan base want to bring up a 13 point loss more than ours has with this one.
I guess the blue text was needed after all... 01-wingedeagle

C'mon people...

But while we are on the subject, I am reminded of a quote from 20th Century U.S. Author James Baldwin:

He said, "American history is longer, larger, more various, more beautiful, and more terrible than anything anyone has ever said about it."

That's pretty much true of everything actually, even the game at issue in this thread, our season to date, and our season yet to come.

We weren't MSU's catnip mouse, but we also weren't and aren't in their league, literally.

Since everyone wants to make a joke thread serious I'll tell you, seriously, that we have a chance against Arkansas, but it isn't large or worth getting all worked up about as a fan. This brought to you by what I hope each and every one of you will recognize as the most obvious of Captains of the Obvious.

I certainly hope the team isn't this pinched up. Our only hope is to take this one fast and loose.

I agree with all of the above.

Miss State did not know then that they would be the #1 ranked team in the nation on this date. Just like most P5 teams, they wanted to win as impressively as possible while not showing all their cards to other teams. As long as the authorities (whoever they may be) don't place asterisks next to atypical scores, we shouldn't either. The fact is that our score against the presently #1 team looks better every week, but we still must play UAR Saturday as well as we can and hope for the best possible result. Again, there will be no * next to that score either.
No. It doesn't look impressive. Nobody but a few of our fans care about that game at all. It was a game they were supposed to win easily, and they were in control of pretty much the entire second half. Did we put up a decent fight against a vanilla scheme? I guess. Does it mean anything? No.
