Did anyone else notice when the first large, loud, on-our-feet, full-throated roar came from our crowd (at least to my ears/eyes)? Not during warmups. Not when the team ran onto the field. Not at the initial kickoff or even our first TD. It was after our defense forced its first 3 & out of the day. Years worth of frustration released as the squad came off the field.

We're smart.
I was screaming "we have a defense"
I noticed... And that was on the TV. That's also how I knew we had a pretty good crowd.
It felt good. I hope to continue that good feeling Saturday against MooU.
Mackin noticed and stared up at the crowd with a giant grin on his face. It raised the hair on the back of my neck. My old season tickets were in row 41 on the north side of the 50. This game I was closer to the band and the field. The atmosphere is much better over there.

Yes...and the announcers mentioned it
Clark mentioned it on his radio show this morning. He said, "It kinda surprised us. Getting off the field on 3rd down is what we do."

With all due respect coach, it's a new experience for most of us, and I bet I'm not speaking just for myself when I say I hope like hell it's habit-forming.

Let's hope we get to the day when forcing a 3 & out gets golfclaps. As of now, I'm glad they noticed on the sideline so they know how refreshing it was to see.

COGS
I was not quite ready to take the ball game to the bank in the first half since we had played them well in the first half the past two years. What I found heartening was how well we played the second half without the second half swoon we saw in so many games in the past. Perhaps that is the second half Troy was waiting for to save their day as in the last two seasons. When it didn't happen this time, they were caught by surprise. I hope we "surprise" several more teams this season - starting Saturday.
Good point. That's the best second half of football I've seen us play since Troy and Memphis, 2010, but those were hellbent-for-leather comebacks.

As exciting as those were, I definitely like the "We've got you down, now we step on your neck" we saw Saturday better.
