Full Version: UCF/UAB WR Jackie Williams?

UCF depth cart was released for the upcoming game. Jackie Williams is sitting pretty low on the WR depth chart. He hasn't been running with the 1st or 2nd string.

Under his notes it reads "One of UAB’s all-time top receivers"

I was wonder why he transferred? What are your thoughts and opinions on the guy?

Ugh. Don't start this.

McGee is an idiot, can we leave it at that? I'm shocked that he isn't higher up on your depth chart though.
He transferred because McGee didn't transfer first.
Here is what I'll say about it, you can take it or leave it:

He transferred because our coach threw him under the bus to assert his dominance over the football program. Jackie Williams' exit was used to try and keep the football in line and show that the previous' coaches players were "losers".

McGee tried to do the same thing to our former starting quarterback, Jonathan Perry, when he first got to UAB. McGee tried his best to get JP to quit and be an example that the New McGee Order was in place, but JP didn't take the bait. He stuck it out.

So, McGee used Jackie as a scape-goat and straight up kicked him off the team as a statement.
Williams was a nice kid, and a talented WR.......he has the #'s to back it up. UCF is probably loaded at WR, if he isn't any higher than that.

You are asking at the wrong place. All the answers here are going to be biased because the wound is still fresh. The "One of UAB’s all-time top receivers" may or may not be true, but given UAB's short history, it isn't hard to be one of the best.

If he isn't practicing with the best teams at UCF, maybe his work ethic does leave something to be desired and some here are wrong about him.
McGee ruined his senior season for no good reason and prevented him from breaking school records. McGee thought anyone associated with UAB prior to his arrival was a loser. Then he quit. Good riddance. Too bad for Jackie. He is a clutch receiver.
When your offense is in a slump, throw it to Jackie.
The wound isn't too fresh. My opinion will always be the same. You don't do that to a guy who by all accounts was a good person and teammate(and player on game day). If his work ethic sucked, fine, cut him loose. Don't keep him around until the season is upon us and throw him out. Dick move. Dick coach.

I always said I didn't think McGee gave a **** about UAB, and that move really made me think less of him, which was hard to do.

So I take it you got both of your questions answered. He was thrown under the bus by McGee and many here believes Jackie is a nice guy.

Now my question is why isn't Jackie higher on UCF's depth chart? The two questions you poised doesn't address that issue. Could Memphis Blazer be right about Williams's work ethic or is it simply that UCF is loaded at the WR position?
Thanks for answering my question. I thought it was odd for a player who was clearing doing well to leave the program.

UCF has a lot of talent at WR this year. Rannell Hall and Breshad Perriman are on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List (best WR). Lots of upperclassmen in this group and there are couple fan favorites. Most Knight fans believe this years UCF offense rests on the WR shoulders. Redshirt Freshman QB DiNovo won the job recently and is still building his timing with the WRs. However, DiNovo ran the scout team with Williams last year. So out of everyone on the team, DiNovo-Williams have the most chemistry working together.

Also, I hate to be really cliche but height might be an issue as well. He's on the roster as 5'11, competing against guys who are 6'3-6'0.

Jackie was a star for UAB because of his speed, not his height.
And his tenacity. He wasn't afraid to reach into a crowd for the ball.

I was expecting him to be on the field a lot for you guys this year, and I was hoping he would have a great end to his college career to make up for the stick McGee threw in his spokes.

Jackie is a great playmaker, and I hope he gets a chance to help you guys out this year.
