Simple question...anybody have any idea what the UAB show(s) is/are for halftime this year? The Troy game will be the first time I've seen a game in person in 14 years, and I'm dearly hoping that the show will be awesome.

Also hoping that the field opens under the Troy band and swallows them all. Whup Troy.
If I had to guess, the whole show will not be in place for the Troy game.
I think they started practicing today.

Hey, we have Smaug now that could get inside info.
I don't know if the whole show will be ready for Troy or not but the theme is 1994 as this is the 20th anniversary of the Marching Blazers.

I'm not sure how accurate this information is. I had to do some digging to find it and it isn't confirmed by anyone officially a member of the band program.
The halftime show will consist of:
I Would do Anything for Love
R&B Medley
What is Love
Without You
My Home’s in Alabama Fanfare (encore)
Land (encore)

Other notes I found digging through the websites and facebook:
The band has a preview Friday August 22 at 730 on the campus green.. Provided it doesn't rain... All are welcome.

Also the band is going to Hawaii in the spring similar to the Ireland trip in the spring. If you want to help them out financially contact the band office or email Dr. Sue Samuels.

Also, the drumline has already been on campus for a week practicing. They're the much cooler section anyway.
Lot's of crap music from 1994. First ones down the list that look decent would be Coolio - Fantastic Voyage & Warren G's Regulate

You also have Tootsie Roll & Whoomp, There It Is down the list.

Do they usually start practice this late?

Band camp, as far as I remember, is always the week before school starts back during the 1 week break between finals for summer classes and the start of the fall semester.

I think it sounds like an incredible show, and I wish I were still there to play it. "What Is Love" by Haddaway alone is a brilliant idea.

Not so sure about the Meatloaf one. Meh.

I'm not sure how they will accompany "Whoomp, There It Is," since I don't remember there being much music to that track, but rapping always goes over well with the crowd. Maybe it will just be drums and bass.

Yep, A former band member told me that they will be doing a replay of their 1994 program in commemoration of their 20th birthday bash this season. I suspect that they will also have a huge group of alumni this year for the homecoming band extravaganza.
I am a charter member from 1994. All I know is that there will be something done on October 11 when we play North Texas for homecoming.

I can guarantee you that the whole show will not be ready for Troy.
The high school all star band will be on Sept 13th I believe.
Interesting selections...have to say there are several on the top 100 link that I figured would translate better to a marching band than Meat Loaf and a medley of R&B songs. Still, if the kids like the show they play, it should be enjoyable. It's when they hate the music that a program suffers.

Haddaway's song was totally ruined. Can't hear it now without bobbing my head.

I know at least one kid who thinks it's going to be great.

Ideally, that's what the crowd will be doing too.
