William & Mary and Charlotte were in to see 2016 guard Kevon Tucker of Dacula (GA)
Interesting to see us continue to pop up to watch 6'8" PF Chris Lewis who has offers from Notre Dame, Florida, GA, among many other majors....Can't imagine we'd be expending the energy without a valid connection, unless there's a Milton HS teammate under the radar.

Interesting if we're after a WCA kid again. I can practically walk there. If we get hot on him, I'll have to go watch.
2016 Walsingham (VA) G Richard Washington visited by William & Mary on Oct. 30th.

Per twitter, Nick Sherod visited the reservation last weekend....It's early for 2016, but great to know we're still in the mix with Sherod...Not only talented with great basketball lineage, but important to get local talent. Saw where KY guard James Boone visited last weekend, also.
My sources say Sherod has gotten an offer from Tech and UVA is very close to offering. Let's hope being in early counts for something.

Interesting too, Billymac, that Nick Sherod is using Marcus's personal basketball trainer from up in the MD/DC area. Sherod scored 42 pts tonight. Not many better paths to follow in than Marcus', with respect to choosing a balanced fit, staying loyal, while still working hard to take your talent to a different level....I think that after Marcus' basketball career is over (and believe he will be in the NBA for as long as he wants), this will have been a choice that allowed Marcus to develop and distinguish himself far more than if he had gone to a major program...and not just in the basketball arena.

6'10 2016 center Braden Burke had 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 2 assists in a 63-25 win over South Haven. William & Mary watched

Pretty significant skill improvement over similar footage from just 4 months earlier.

Imagine a tough prospect to hold onto if he's playing EYBL again next summer.

Interesting comment on Marcus Thornton and the NBA. Do many Tribe observers think he will make it in the "Association?"

I have been following mid-major hoops for over 30 years and have only seen 3 "can't miss" players, Curry, Robinson and Newman. I haven't seen Marcus play that much, but I wouldn't put him in the same category as the other 3, of course Robinson was named to the 50 year anniversary all-time NBA team and Curry is on the short list for league MVP now, so maybe I am comparing Marcus to a very select sample. But, playing a long as he wants, implies more success in the NBA than Cal Bowdler, Bue Edwards, Brian Rowsom and any of the other CAA players who made an NBA roster for a year or two.

Well, my comments were after being kool aid drunk returning home from the Richmond game :-) The High Point game, on the heels of that, swung the other way.

Hard to put any player, on any level, in the same category as Curry and Robinson. On the other hand, Marcus is well above Bowdler, Edwards and Rowsom. Edwards lasted 10 years, but the character issues put him below Marcus' potential.

I saw a lot of Johnny Newman during his 4 years at UR, and I think Marcus could approach Newman's success in the NBA. A lot rides on how this team finishes and the exposure Marcus gets from it. VCU's Treveon Graham, on watch lists and NBA draft projections, came up through the WCAC league the same time as Marcus. Marcus got more accolades then, and is a much better prospect now, but Graham has benefitted from the exposure he's gotten from Shaka Smart.
Not sure if it helps or hurts Marcus, but guys like CJ McCollum (Lehigh) & Elfrid Payton (LA-Lafayette) were top 10 picks. Both had excellent collegiate careers but nothing glaringly better than Marcus. Both have struggled in the the League, so perhaps teams will be more cautious with mid major guys.

Valid examples...won't be an easy path.
