Per source: #LaTech and Shreveport-Bossier had best presentation. UAB won bid on politics. Shreveport-Bossier favorite to land 2016 tourney.
GO BLAZERS GO BIRMINGHAM!! What type of Politics, La Tech? The fact the we have an awesome city now?
Haven't saw any reports or stories yet but I have a strong feeling that the positivity surrounding Birmingham played a large role in UAB/Bham getting the bid.

Probably UAB being an original member...
Awesome news, if it really was politics (and not sore loser-ness) it's nice to be on the winning side of politics for once
Or maybe Birmingham having two basketball arenas and god only knows how many hotel rooms and a pretty happening downtown area and easy to get to via air and land?
& Gene Hallman to do the car parking.
Awesome news.

How much do CUSA tourney tickets generally run? (Yes, I Googled before asking.)
If given the choice, you would have to imagine most of our conference mates would want Birmingham over Shreveport. I have no issues with the area, but it's a little more isolated. Birmingham is pretty convenient for the entire eastern half of the conference, except for Miami, which nothing is convenient for.

Charlotte, ODU, Marshall, WKU, MTSU, La Tech, USM, and to a lesser extent Dallas are all within a days drive of Birmingham. Logistically speaking, Birmingham and Nashville make the most sense.

I thought Gene was leading the Hoover cracker barrell brigade in the bitching about the car parking ?

There are direct flights to Birmingham from Miami. There are a lot more destinations non-stop to the Birmingham airport than there are to Shreveport.
Great news hopefully we have the best team in the tourney next year also.

Southwest flies into Ft. Lauderdale and visa versa.

That tweet reads like the latter, even if there is some truth to it. It sounds bitchy.

Definitely, it's a lame excuse
Great news.

1. Uab needs to win it all.
2. If UAB loses earlier, UAB fans need to continue to attend, no matter how painful

Yep. And we really need a couple of the eastern teams to make a run. If MTSU or WKU or Charlotte made a deeper run in the tournament, I could see them bringing more fans to the later rounds.

We definitely need to do our part no matter what though. Hell, if we lose go cheer like hell against the team that knocked us out.

And you know....fans.

La Tech's record has been amazing the last two seasons and they still can barely fill up the lower bowl in their arena.

Attendance will be terrible when La Tech hosts. They don't have many fans and the only schools that are an easy drive from there don't have many fans either.

Meanwhile, UAB, Charlotte, MT, and WKU all finished top half of the conference in attendance and have proven they can put 6,000+ in the seats when their teams are good.

I expect Charlotte, UAB, MT, WKU, Marshall, and ODU to all form a nice, fairly geographically concise rivalry.

Charlotte will definitely bring a lot of fans if we make the championship. We brought about 3,000 down for the soccer championship a few years ago. That was for the NCAA championship, so I'm not sure how equal of a comparison it is, but it is also soccer, so it may not be that far off.

The school will definitely host bus trips and there are some pretty good alum groups that will get the word out to friends and carpool down.

A championship that puts WKU vs MT would also draw very well.

Obviously I hope for the sake of the conference that UAB is in the championship and plays against another team from the east because that place will be pretty full and loud.
The last time the tourney was in Bham, I only missed 1 game. It was a GREAT time
