Per the Virginia Pilot the 4 schools under consideration this year are:

James Madison (now off the list)
Liberty
Eastern Kentucky
Jacksonville St

That actually makes me feel pretty excited. Most sources said it was JMU and MoSt ahead of Liberty, so I would think the order now is Liberty, EKU, Jacksonville St.
I am curious to know where the paper is getting their info, considering they have no ties to the SBC.

The AD at ODU sure does though.

Apparently so, because no one else seems willing to talk.
ODU basically calling JMU out by saying we are looking forward to a home and home with Liberty.

The 3 school that have stated that they want to move up.

It has been know that JaxSt wants to move up.

Everyone knows Liberty wants to move up.

EKU president has stated there desire to move up.

A blind sportswriter could come up with this list of 3.

What ties does the ODU AD have to the current SBC? Not only has he been gone a while but now so is the University he came from.

Yeah but I would not count EKU out just yet. Jacksonville St would be the dark horse but obviously still in the running. Really the biggest thing that hits me when I read this story is that the Sun Belt is holding what amounts to the last ticket to the dance and JMU just thumbed their nose at it.
Don't put any stock into anything Wood Selig has to say. Just months before Western got the official invite for C-USA he said Western didn't fit the C-USA "model" . This coming after Western was told you're next just as soon as Tulsa leaves. So he likes to run his mouth...a lot!

Personally I think EKU is probably 1b at worse on the list. If the President at EKU can sell the SBC on they can get the funding EKU will get the last SBC spot. A month ago I would have said they are a couple years away...

and they are. But with JMU closing the door I think the SBC takes the chance they will get the needed funding for the move. With that I think their move to FBS will be a lot longer before they are competitive than the other move ups....

because they will be cutting a lot of corners and will need to do it on the cheap or at least a lot cheaper than if they had that 18 to 24 month window to get their ducks in line before getting a invite
EKU has great football history, but I can not get pass the fact that every time someone mentions them I think Eastern Michigan. Even the E logo on their helmets reminds me of Eastern Michigan.
The guy was 1 for 4. He obviously doesn't have good sources. I don't care if the ODU AD has ties to WKU.

James Madison (now off the list)
Liberty - No shot
Eastern Kentucky - Maybe in 5 years
Jacksonville St - No shot

Umass football only, NMSU all sports. Recite this until it becomes ingrained in your gray matter.

This looks like the E Mich logo?

Don't tell me you don't see it!
Benson has consistently said for months now and it has been said by others that the goal is to add a 12th all sports member by June 1. I am not at all convinced that UMass has the votes to get in. I am not sure Liberty does either. We will see by June 1 if Liberty can get 9 votes. I think most would agree Liberty is more ready for FBS than either Jacksonville St. or EKU right now.

I think of KFC.

Now that's funny. Do you know the original KFC is only about 30 miles from EKU.

UTSA has the KFC thing down pat.

The difference is UMass will be a short term rental that can be renewed if it works out. Your stuck with EKU if they are #12. Fact is, EKU could be #12 and UMass could be a football playing member this summer. UMass could give EKU 4-6 years to get their act together. The SB has options.
My money is on Liberty. Despite the misgivings of many on this board, they seem to be the most eager and the most ready of any of the schools that have been thrown about.
