No more starving athletes who can't make it with only 3 meals per day.
You say that jokingly, but athletes require a lot more calories than your average joe. An acquaintance of mine played college ball and was in the NFL for two years. During training camp they had him on a 6500 calorie a day diet when they were wanting him to lose weight.

Only half jokingly. Athletes certainly need more food than a lazy slob like me.

The new rule also applies to athletes who are not on scholarship.

I would walk-on to some program just for the unlimited food.
I have no problem with this at all. I think these guys should basically have as much food as they want made available to them. I get tired of hearing about the starving NCAA athlete, and I am sick of hearing stupid ass stories about the NCAA getting in Majerus' ass over a pizza or a school offering cream cheese with bagels.
How many teenagers make it on just 3 meals a day? Teens are legendary for their constant appetite and "hollow leg" jokes are common. Add to that a daily regimen of high intensity exercise and study and you get a high maintenance athlete. EX: All those 300+ lb linemen don't get there on just three regular size meals per day. Most schools have regular nutritional counseling to go with conditioning coaches for team athletes so they are less likely to eat destructively and just get fatter.
Well no more excuses for undersized linemen.

Not since about the 1950's.

That aspect of teens has been the staple of many "Zits" comic strips so it is not all that passe.
