Yay
Weren't the voles ranked 25th?
I just had a Forrest Gump moment. Similar to his considering meeting multiple presidents old hat..

Yep, we played a game against those nice young men in Knoxville…we be them again.

Yes our web site had them ranked 25th. But that may have been last week's ranking and maybe not this week. Still a win over any of the big conference teams is significant and we can be proud of the Bucs!
Great mid week win followed by a straight arse kicking at Lipscomb. Awful.

Men AND women . . . Both Baseball and Softball lost 3 games to 0 to Lipscum.
It's something that annoys the piss out of me. So much focus on beating Tennessee, that's an OOC mid week game. Play your backups and who cares? Focus on the weekend series with conference opponents, I care a lot more about winning series, getting a better seed for the tournament and making the NCAA's than one off wins against "high profile" teams that most likely are playing backups and spot starting pitchers.

Reminds me of last year, people were saying on here ETSU should throw Doane against UT and waste him. Beating UT is nice but doesn't get us anything, we have to win the weekend games.
I've always looked at mid week games as a way to develop a roster and plan for the future. Get looks at other guys and give your starters a break. No way Freeman should've been out there.

I'm not sure I understand. He threw only 27-28 pitches and got to pad his stats with a save?? Or are you saying that a .358 hitter should be held out of the lineup?

Can you clarify? Thanks.
Yea, I say save him for the weekend when it comes to pitching. Don't put him out there, save the arm. 27-28 pitches is too much.
I look at it this way, last year is looking more and more like a fluke as this team falls further below .500. They've still got Mercer, Gulf Coast and North Florida on the schedule, and Jacksonville has more conference wins but more conference losses.
It goes back to my belief that Tony Skole is not a very good manager of the game and his roster. It's funny how much we complain about Bartow but here we are again with baseball with a losing record, 5th in the standings but hey, they beat Tennessee and Auburn. Big deal until you realize this team is going to be two and done in the A-Sun tourney if they don't figure it out.

I don't mind having a reliever throw a few pitches mid week to keep the arm loose. I did think it was crazy that people where saying start Doane against UT.

Last season was a fluke, without Doane they were 23-22 and 9-9 in conference.
Yet Skole still has a job... I don't get it, he must have some major dirt on somebody to keep his job with the level of mediocrity his teams have exhibited.

Freeman has only pitched 31 innings in the Bucs 32 games.
So why throw him against UT? Again the wins are lacking on the weekend.

You do understand he is a relief pitcher, correct? (Not being a horses rear, because I know at one time there was discussion of moving him into the starting rotation).

I assume he needs some work throughout the week.

Plus that was a very important win for the program. Not crucial but still important.
If he pitches two of the three on the weekend, especially Sunday then would it not be better to rest the arm?
