Guys if you haven't been paying attention during the first two weekends of the conference season you might want to start tuning in your favorite teams' games. I've been watching SEC baseball for over 40 years and I have never seen the balance top to bottom in the conference that we have this year. 12 of the 14 schools have two starters that are capable of winning every time they take the hill. The defensive play this year has been better than average and there isn't a dominant team inside of our conference although there have been more than a few that have been dominant outside of the conference play. 6 games into conference play two games separates the best record from the worst and the two last place teams Missouri and Georgia have had some close games get away from them. If things hold true to the form of the first two weekends of play this could be the most competitive baseball season in my lifetime. Most years I could tell you after the first two weeks which 4 teams would finish the best barring key injuries. This year I have no clue.

With the new bats leveling the home run totals I'd say the top 4 schools this year will be the ones that develop a third starter during the season, have two good relievers, and the ones that stay healthy. But the 1 thing I can promise you is that your school is playing good baseball.
I'm definitely proud of UK for such a good series with USC this weekend. It looks like we ran into a buzz saw of a pitcher on Sunday, but we took 2 games. I am admittedly an after the fact article reader when it comes to SEC baseball, but I'll be tuning in this year. This is yet another area where I think the more casual SEC baseball fan like me will benefit from SEC Network coverage next spring. Baseball is the perfect sport for highlight packages of the games around the conference.
