I'm still in basketball mode and hoping the spring sports teams have good seasons, but I shouldn't forget about football.

Good preview. For some reason I thought McDowell and Wilcher were gone. Glad they will be back.
Energy was high today and the team looks hungry.

The QB's all got equal snaps. it looks like there is no favorite as of right now. Can't wait for the spring game!
Surprise at #2 FB Ryeon Wedley. All-State player from Tennessee that was on the Volunteer's roster last fall about 5'8"-5'9" 220 lbs. Good student with a 4.0 avg in HS. Type of guy that could easily become a fan favorite-highly motivated.
Is Elijah (sp?) Jones finished? It's a shame if his health prevented him from coming back.

Nice music from Motorhead, lol 04-rock
I like all the Redshirt Freshmen. That means they've been in the program for a year with still 4 years of playing time left. They've had a year to mature physically, mentally, and academically.
Since when do we use a FB? Last one I remember was Engle during the Pinkle era.
Bratton?

Last couple of years, we use a HBACK which they are calling a Fullback. Probably 20-30 plays per game the last two years.
Solid big back. Nice pick-up.
That one we used last year is back. Got a few carries and caught out of the backfield - Rosenbaum. Had some huge blocks in the RZ? Weighs about 250.

The conference schedule looks great. NIU on the road but the other tough games at home. How many starters does a football team have? We lost several starters but still have 19 left?
Alonzo Russell returning punts and kickoffs? No doubt he has good hands but not sure either of those positions play to his strengths to date. It will be interesting to see how these two positions play out in the spring.

He may have graduated. He and Christian Smith were the same class. They missed freshman seasons. Alias Smith and Jones - from an old TV Western- were about the same size as I remember.
Interesting quote from Ryan on twitter today:

Quote:Reviews strong on new QB coach Candle. Julian said he's learned more this spring than all of last year. Woodside's knowledge is growing too.

I'm told Julian is looking much better than expected. I believe there is a true 3 way battle for QB job.

If two of them look really good maybe we could try something like a QB rotation.
