Has anyone else been disappointed with the Green and Gold Room experience? I can't tell you how many times I have had to stand up and eat my meal. It's not that hard to have adequate seating for all that attend. If I'm going to pay extra cash for this service, I should expect that I have a seat to eat my gourmet meal. They need to get rid of the small circular tables with a glass tops that are useless, the oversized chairs on rollers, and couches. It's hard enough for one person to sit at that plant rest, much less four. They also need to fix the sound system in this room. I have a hard time hearing Coach Hasse during our pregame chalk talk. Some of this can be attributed to us just talking and not realizing we have a guest speaker because YOU CAN'T HEAR HIM!! Also, If I want to bring my soda/drink/popcorn out to my premium seat that I pay for, I should be able to with no questions asked. Go Blazers! BEAT MEMPHIS!

Also, If I want seconds on my delicious meal. I should be able to go back and get some more.
With them charging $1250 a person next year, it won't be nearly as crowded.
Problemo el solved

I am unimpressed with the Green & Gold Room. And have been for some time.

The Blazer Boosters must have heard you and others. The whole reason for increasing the access to the Green and Gold room to $1,250 per-seat donation next season was to improve the experience.

How much of an increase is this?
May be time for you to move to the Championns Club.
just posted this in another thread.

The room and accommodations and food have declined a lot.

I've talked to the catering companies and their servers/chefs are nice and all and the food service people are nice but the whole experience sucks.

I'm going to take that $250 extra and put it back towards a donation upgrade or something and eat/drink out in the parking lot.
I hear you also get an "I'm a preferred customer" button with an increase in donations.
The whole layout of the G&G room is dysfunctional. A lot of wasted space with separate choke points that make it very unappealing.

This should have been remodeled a long time ago making it easier and more logistically feasible.
For a long time, the G&G Room was big enough, but with additional patrons, it has become too small. The layout has a lot to do with it appearing to be even smaller still. A redesign of seating, different tables and chairs and moving the bar and popcorn to a different part of the room would probably help by eliminating choke points that keep obstructing traffic, particularly during halftime. When UAB gets its own football locker room in a new building, it may free up space in lower Bartow for a larger G&G room.
gourmet meal. 03-rotfl I couldn't resist.
I've been in there a couple of times; a friend gave me and Smaug a pair of passes for the place. It was overcrowded and the food was BBQ; I was expecting better. Considering what you get (based on what I saw), it is not worth the extra cost to have access. Southside is full of less crowded places with great food.
What JSU does blows our G&G room away. The folks that donate $500.00 a year get better than we do at UAB for a fraction of the cost.

They don't get better than we do because they have to attend JSU basketball games.

And there are probably not long lines to anything. 03-lol
And they might harvest the food in the arena.
Actually it's for football. I will post some pics sometime.
As with any fund-raising effort, the Blazer Club is about getting more money for a program, not feeding the patrons. The more spent on food, the less there is for a goal. I have read about political fund-raising dinners that charge $1,000, $5,000, $10,000 and even more per plate but don't serve especially high priced food. One should expect tasty, well prepared and presented food at such functions and to date the few times I have been there, the G&G offering has been acceptable for the average palate.

Now, if we want to order out to Chez Fon Fon, that's different.

Thats also 6-7 home games vs 1800
Yeah, I sure don't see this issue next year. It may just be pretty deserted in there since its an additional cost, not included in the seat cost. An extra $1250 per seat is pretty steep. I can imagine if I was a person with 4 seats for a family, I would be saying lets stop at Ruth Chris before the game and still save 4k vs paying 5k for 17 bbq meals for the family.

With this happening maybe they will increase the food selection via food trucks before the game.

I really think since it will be an add on, few will choose to do the G&G room next year. Probably so few that something will change for the following year. Or maybe they will try to keep it elite, and have few in there, who knows.

The G&G room wasn't designed or intended to be used by the capacity of people that are using it now during basketball games. But unless someone donates money to have it redone, its unlikely to be budgeted to get a facelift. I am sure someone in athletics can give you a price on how much of a donation it will require and gladly accept your check and give you naming rights on it.
