Good news

…particularly if commitment is in writing.

I don't normally log on over here, but I happened to see this and had to comment. HustleBelt lost my respect. They changed Zach's wording in the article to say that Allen Trieu broke the news, when in fact Zach did. I have first hand knowledge of what happened. Zach noticed from some twitter posts that Toledo received a big commitment. He called JonVea Johnson to do a recap interview, thinking he might be the commitment, and sure enough JonVea told Zach that he just committed about 20 minutes ago. Zach posted on twitter that Johnson committed to Toledo. Shortly after that Allen posted it on twitter. Allen later admitted to Zach that he got it from seeing Zach's twitter post. HustleBelt refused to believe Zach and treated him unprofessionaly, IMO. Needless to say, Zach doesn't plan on writing for HustleBelt anymore.

Hustlebelt.....there's no politics in this. Give credit where credit is due, even if that person happens to be a 17 year old, who I might add is an up and coming sports reporter that has been reporting for teams such as the Detroit Lions and the Toledo Rockets.

Okay, sorry....end rant. Johnson's a huge pickup for Toledo, by the way.

Zach is a good follow on twitter...also has a blog with its own twitter page called pride of UT blog....you should definitely check it out.
I didn't know who this Zack was, so I clicked on his name on the story. He's a 17 yr old in Grand Rapids? Kudo's, but how the heck does he have his thumb on the pulse regarding Toledo? Interesting.
Welcome to Rocket nation JonVea!

Zach's working for our Toledo site on Rivals.....TheRocketNation, so he has access to call prospects for interviews, etc. He's doing some other free lance stuff, like the blog TampaRocket brought up.
Why are so many young sportswriters named "Zack?" Is this a new rule, a new paradigm, can't get other jobs?

Here's a nice article on the Harig kid. Somebody call somebody in the Athletic Dept. UT should recruit HIM!

Zack Harig: 17yo Sports Reportor/Announcer.
I bet he has already learned to never utter the words "BOOM goes the dynamite.."

Actually he does have a job offer with UT for next fall.......I think it's with the Collegian or radio station or something.....I can't remember exactly what one.
I don't care who broke twitter news about any recruit because to me none of it matters until signing day.
BUT I will say I was impressed with the article about Zach and the several options he has to decide between when he arrives on UT campus as a freshman.
How does his play by play sound? Professional?
