I've been thinking about it a lot lately, so I wanted some input from you guys. What kind of role do you see Tyler Madison playing in the next few years? I can see him playing a small 4 or a big 3 getting tough rebounds and scoring from posting up/ off the cut.

I can see him as the next Rob Williams by the time he is a senior

Another version of Rob Williams. He is strong inside and can get tough rebounds...
I'm assuming we aren't going to need him to play the 4 ever because of what we seem to be recruiting, but I suppose that could change. I really always thought he would be a 3. In limited minutes I have been fairly impressed with him, but I haven't seen enough to really be able to make a decision yet.
between Mehinti, Washington, Cokley, Lee, and Sullivan I don't think we will need someone at 6'4" will ever need to play the 4.

He has only played limited minutes due to the Seniors we have: Swing, Purifoy, and Williams.

I wouldn't even consider him a big 3. He's the right size to play the 2/3 guard/small forward position.
I could see him possibly starting next year at the 3 doing the Rob Williams "dirty work" role. It would depend on how good our freshman play and how Haase wants the starting lineup to look.

I could see a starting five of Chad/Rob Brown/Tyler/CJ/Tosin with Denzell, Thad and the freshmen coming off the bench. The other option is moving CJ or Lee to the 3, so then we would have a really tall team and Tyler would come off the bench.

Of course, there are still two more spots to fill in the recruiting class that could change all of this. Especially if Haase picks up any jucos.
Madison and Watts could be relegated to the end of the bench next year if our incoming class is as good as it seems to be. I also expect that Haase would go after at least one JUCO to fill our remaining spots, which would likely knock them down further.

I think you are really underestimating what a year in a system does for a player. Besides as of right now we don't have another PG coming in for Watts. He'll still get some minutes backing up Frazier and maybe even taking over some minutes from him and moving Frazier around a little.

Madison is the unknown though... he seems to be getting the least amount of minutes of all the newcomers. But like I said prior we have 3 seniors that play his position which will be great for him learning what Haase expects of him.
It's been so long since we have had true freshmen that I think many UAB fans forget that freshmen generally don't see significant minutes unless they are awesome and especially when they have seniors playing ahead of them. Next year is when we find out what Madison has.

When Alabama fires Grant this season, we'll be adding another PG. 05-stirthepot

Except that he wont be allowed to transfer to UAB.

Forgot he signed early.

In that case, Grant won't be fired until they see how these recruits pan out.

Might not be a problem since The Tamperer is gone from UAB
